Napa High ended its season by playing in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs and the section’s individual tournament.
On Nov. 11, Napa defeated Turlock 6-3, which moved the Indians into the semifinals of the team playoffs. Napa’s singles ladder of Danielle Mirda, Katrina Castner, Diana Camacho, Alana Freifeld, Meghan Dudley and Allison Stradiotto brought in the six wins.
Napa moved on to play St. Francis-Sacramento on Nov. 16, with the Indians losing, 8-1. Mirda won at No. 1 singles.
Napa also represented the Monticello Empire League in the individual section playoffs.

The quarterfinals brought a more challenging opponent in Jacqueline Jacques of Beyer-Modesto. Mirda demonstrated patience and focus, beating Jacques in straight sets.
Mirda then moved into the semifinals and lost to the section runner-up from 2008, Christiana Ferrari of St. Mary’s-Stockton.
Katrina Castner faced a tough opponent in the first round, Nivola Polverova from Tokay-Lodi. Polverova defeated Castner in straight sets after long baseline rallies.
In doubles, Meghan Dudley and Diana Camacho came back after a weak first set to take the second set off of Davis’ No. 3 team. Dudley and Camacho came up short in the third set.
Alana Freifeld and Allison Stradiotto played aggressive doubles but came up short against the doubles finalist from St. Mary’s. Stradiotto and Freifeld lost in two sets.
