Napa Valley Swim Team opens season at Vacaville short course meet

The Napa Valley Swim Team started its 2008-09 season at the Vacaville Swim Club’s Short Course meet last month.

In the girls 6-and-under division, Maya Douglas placed third in the 50-yard backstroke.

In the boys 6-and-under division, Sam Hebb swam in his first swim meet and Barrett McMichael achieved 100-percent times and a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle.

In the 7-year-old girls division, Erin Dunn swam in her first swim meet and Emily Dusky placed second in the 50 butterfly and the 100 freestyle and third in the 25 breastroke.

In the 7-year-old boys division, Nicholas Cisco swam in his first swim meet and earned a first place finish in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, and a second place finish in the 50 backstroke and the 25 breastroke.

In the 8-year-old girls division, Quin Jensen earned new “A” times in the 50 backstroke, 25 breastroke, 50 breastroke, 25 butterfly and the 100 individual medley. Jensen placed first in the 25 backstroke, second in the 25 freestyle and 50 breastroke and third in the 25 breastroke. Karenna Meyer earned two new “A” times in the 100 freestyle and the 50 backstroke. She also placed second in the 100 freestyle and third in the 50 freestyle. Rebecca Reynolds earned three new “A” times in the 25 freestyle, 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

In the 8-year-old boys division, Robert Mitchell earned two new “A” times in the 25 backstroke and the 50 backstroke. Mitchell also achieved 100 percent best times. Cayd Roberts earned a first-place finish and a new “A” time in the 100 freestyle. Also representing NVST in this division were Joey Douglas and William Fallini-Haas.

In the 9-year-old girls division, Belle Calforda achieved eight best times and a new “BB” time in the 100 IM (third place). Calforda also achieved new “B” times in the 500 freestyle (third place), 100 backstroke (third place), 100 breastroke (third place), and the 100 butterfly (first place). Calforda also placed third in the 50 freestyle, 50 breastroke, 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle. Annika Jean Erickson achieved nine best times and new “B” times in the 200 freestyle (third place), 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle (second place), and the 100 backstroke (second place). Olivia Ha-Hoang achieved seven best times and new “BB” times in the 50 freestyle (first place) and the 100 backstroke (first place). Ha-Hoang also achieved new “B” times in the 500 freestyle (first place), 100 breastroke and the 100 butterfly (third place). Ha-Hoang also placed first in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 backstroke and the 100 IM. Also representing NVST in this division was Celine Parra.

In the 9-year-old boys division, Quinn McMichael earned 100 percent best times and Brock Swanson swam in his first swim meet.

In the 10-year-old girls division, Megan Minor achieved nine best times and a new “AAAA,” Far Western and Pacific Reportable time in the 500 freestyle where she finished first; a new “AAAA” in the 100 IM, where she finished first; a new “AAA,” Far Western and Pacific Reportable Time in the 100 butterfly, where she finished first; a new “AAA” time in the 50 butterfly (first place); a new “AA” and Far Western time in the 100 breastroke (first place) and a new “AA” time in the 50 breastroke. Minor also swam to first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke. Nathalie Brewster achieved four best times and a new Junior Olympic time in the 100 backstroke, where she also finished third. Isabella Corley achieved six best times and a new “BB” time in the 100 breastroke and a new “B” time in the 500 freestyle. Madi Perna achieved four best times and a new “BB” time in the 500 freestyle. Kathleen Schafle achieved four best times and a new “B” time in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

In the 10-year-old boys division, Jack Hebb earned 100 percent best times while placing second in the 100 breastroke, third in the 50 backstroke and third in the 100 IM.

In the 11-year-old girls division, Isabella Barrett achieved 100 percent best times and a new “AA” and Far Western time in the 200 breastroke, where she placed first. Barrett also achieved a new “AA” and Junior Olympic time in the 50 breastroke (first place), a new Junior Olympic time in the 1650 freestyle (third place), a new Junior Olympic time in the 100 breastroke (first place), a new “A” time in the 100 IM (second place) and a new “BB” time in the 50 butterfly (second place). Barrett also swam to a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle. Mia Facey achieved six best times and a new “A” time in the 100 IM, finishing third, and a new “BB” time in the 200 butterfly (first place). Facey also placed third in the 50 freestyle, second in the 200 freestyle and second in the 100 butterfly. Rose Ballantine achieved six best times and new “BB” times in the 200 backstroke (third place), 200 breastroke (second place) and the 400 IM (third place). Ballantine also placed third in the 100 breastroke. Shania Stagner achieved nine best times and new “B” times in the 500 freestyle, 50 breastroke and the 400 IM. Stagner also placed second in the 200 butterfly and third in the 100 butterfly. Madi Anderson achieved eight best times and a new “B” time in the 200 breastroke.

In the 11-year-old boys division, Bradley John Erickson achieved seven best times and a new Junior Olympic time in the 50 breastroke, where he also finished second. Erickson also achieved new “BB” times in the 500 freestyle and the 200 IM (third place). Erickson also swam to third-place finishes in the 100 breastroke, 200 breastroke and the 100 butterfly. Noah Douglas achieved five best times in the 500 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 IM, 100 backstroke and the 200 IM. Louis Ayers achieved three best times in the 200 backstroke, 100 IM and the 200 IM. Rio Barnes achieved two best times and had third-place finishes in the 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 1650 freestyle and the 50 backstroke. Daniel Richardson achieved two best times in the 50 backstroke and the 200 breastroke.

In the 12-year-old girls division, Alex Swanson achieved four best times and a new “A” and Junior Olympic time in the 500 freestyle (third place), 1650 freestyle (second place) and the 200 breastroke (third place). Swanson also placed second in the 200 freestyle and third in the 200 backstroke. Chloe King achieved 100 percent times and new “B” times in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 50 butterfly and the 100 IM. Emily Stephens achieved three best times and a new “BB” time in the 50 butterfly. Stephens also achieved a new “B” time in the 100 breastroke and the 100 butterfly. Madeline Cline achieved six best times and new “B” times in the 100 butterfly and the 200 breastroke. Joanna Haas achieved six best times and a new “B” time in the 400 IM. Haas also placed first in the 200 butterfly. Riley Heb achieved three best times and a new “B” time in the 100 IM. Elyssa Jane Erickson achieved three best times in the 100 backstroke, 50 breastroke and the 100 breastroke. Also representing NVST in this division was Stephanie Lockett and Leigh Jensen.

In the 12-year-old boys division, Miles McArdle achieved 100 percent best times and a new Junior Olympic time in the 100 butterfly. McArdle also achieved new “BB” times in the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke (second place), and the 400 IM. He also swam to a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke.

In the 13-year-old girls division, Marcelena Zavala achieved 100 percent best times and a new “AA” and Junior Olympic time in the 50 freestyle. Zavala also achieved a new “A” time in the 100 freestyle, and new “BB” times in the 500 freestyle, the 100 backstroke, the 200 backstroke, the 100 breastroke and the 200 IM. Elise Roberts achieved two best times and a new “BB” time in the 100 butterfly and a second place finish in the 200 breastroke and a third-place finish in the 100 breastroke. Leanne Woods achieved six best times in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 breastroke, 200 breastroke and the 200 IM. Ximena Mendieta achieved three best times in the 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke and the 1650 freestyle.

In the 13-year-old boys division, Nick Meyer achieved 100 percent best times and new “BB” and Junior Olympic times in the 100 breastroke (first place) and the 200 breastroke (first place). Meyer also achieved a new “BB” time in the 100 freestyle, breaking the 1:00.00 time standard with a time of 58.64. Meyer also achieved new “BB” times in the 1650 freestyle (second place), 400 IM (first place), 200 backstroke (third place), 100 backstroke (third place) and the 200 IM (second place). Eric Boessenecker achieved seven best times and a new “A” time in the 100 freestyle, where he finished first. Boessenecker also achieved a new “BB” time in the 200 freestyle (second place) and new “B” times in the 200 breastroke (second place), 100 breastroke (second place) and the 400 IM (third place). Cody Dusky achieved five best times and finished second in the 100 butterfly.

In the 14-year-old girls division, Megan Morris represented NVST.

In the 14-year-old boys division, Hayden Corley achieved a best time and new “B” time in the 1650 freestyle. Also representing NVST in this age division was Jake Kennedy.

The Napa Valley Swim Team hosts its annual Harvest Classic Swim Meet this weekend at the Napa Valley College pool.
