New 'Clank' is a winnerWhen it comes to platformers on the PlayStation 3, it’s hard to beat the “Ratchet & Clank” games. The newest, “Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time” improves on its predecessor to make a fantastically fun adventure.

'Uncharted 2' is off the chartsIf you’ve been looking for a reason to buy a PlayStation 3, I can give you one really good one: “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.”

‘Need for Speed’ shifts gearsThe “Need for Speed” series of racing games has been around a long time. I got the original for my birthday back in 1996 (and I played it to death). I’ve played every one since.

Upping the fun with 'Halo' Some gamers will argue the “Halo” series of first-person shooters has been milked to death.

Beatlemaniac heavenHere’s the thing about band-specific music games: If you don’t like the band, you’re probably not going to be that interested.

Having fun in the 'Shadow'I’m really glad publishers have figured out summer is a great time to release fantastic downloadable games. Before the rush of holiday releases comes, we get some really great games, pretty cheap.

'Rock Band Unplugged' has a familiar soundBefore “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band,” developer Harmonix had a few music-rhythm games under its belt, and they were fantastic.

'Bigs 2' is no home runI’m not a big fan of sports games, but I had a blast with the arcade baseball game, “The Bigs,” which came out a few years back.

'Overlord II' worth the troubleThere are games with issues that you don’t want to play again.

‘Prototype’ too much to handleIt’s funny how often games or movies with similar ideas come out at the same time. The comparisons between “inFamous” and “Prototype” were inevitable — both games involve apocalyptic futures and the development of superpowers.

'Ghostbusters’ resurrectedJust goes to show nothing is ever truly dead.

Welcome changes in ‘Sims 3’ gameOn the surface, it doesn’t seem as if it would be that fun to play a video game in which you eat, sleep, go to work.

New 'Grand Theft' a fun rideWhen I imagine the “Grand Theft Auto” series, I think of a massively open world and nice graphics.

‘F.E.A.R. 2’ a solid sequelThe first “F.E.A.R.,” which came out in 2005, was creepy. It was a first-person shooter paired with supernatural abilities and a pale, ragged girl who would pop in and out of your vision (a la “The Ring”), tormenting you.
