Advertising Guidelines for donated space in the Event Bulletin 12/1/2007
As an active member of the communities we serve, the Napa Valley Register recognizes our important responsibility to support events and activities that enrich the lives of our neighbors. The Napa Valley Register will donate space on a weekly basis to qualified non-profit organizations wishing to promote their events. Additional space may be purchased at the current rate card "non-profit" advertising rate. Purchased ads will be met with a match of an equal amount of space - in essence a 50/50 match of purchased advertising.
Requests for cash donations should be made in writing and are considered annually, typically in September. Those requests should be sent to: Publisher, Napa Valley Register 1615 2nd St., Napa CA 94558.
The Event Bulletin will run every Thursday and will consist of three different 2x6 inch ads.
Requests will be accepted only from charitable, nonprofit organizations. A photo copy of the organization's IRS w-501-c (3) may be requested by the Napa Valley Register.
An organization's project or event may run not more than 2 consecutive weeks and only if there are no other requests for the space. An organization, project or event may not run more than 2 ads within a 6-month period. Requests will be accepted no earlier than 6 months prior to an event.
The project, event or appeal should be of sufficient seriousness and public importance to warrant the donation of time and space. The information should be of direct relevance to the readers in the Napa Valley Register's circulation area. The Napa Valley Register reserves the right to reject any ad.
Requests for ads must be received no less than two weeks prior to publication. Materials, artwork and copy must be received a minimum of one week prior to publication.
Organizations seeking contributions in their ad must be duly qualified and certified for receiving such donations.
By asking for the donation of advertising space, the recipient organization agrees that no other advertising will be purchased from other media.
The focus of the ad should be the non-profit organization and/or the services they provide, not business sponsors. No other business sponsoring logos will appear in the ad except the non-profit organization's logo. We will not accept "thank you" ads in the Event Bulletin.
The Napa Valley Register will not accept ads for fund-raisers at commercial establishments where only a portion of the charge is contributed to a charity.
Advertisements from churches or church-sponsored organizations or events should be non-denominational in character, promote or further the well being of the entire community and be open to the general public.
Advocacy or political message ads will not be accepted.
