The city of Calistoga has tapped Dan Takasugi, a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, as its new public works director/city engineer, effective May 1
Takasugi’s experience in municipal public works corresponds very well to Calistoga’s ongoing and future projects, according to City Manager Jim McCann. Most recently, he was the Public Works director in Snohomish Wash. a city of about 8,500. He was responsible for all public works divisions, including water, wastewater, stormwater management, engineering, facilities and parks and recreation departments.
He and his team at Snohomish are credited with completing several major capital- and utility-system improvement projects, and implementing a stormwater utility and a comprehensive parks maintenance program.
Takasugi holds an M.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois and an M.S. in computer systems management from the University of Maryland.
Prior to holding a position as civil engineering program manager at the U.S. Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, D.C., Takasugi was director of public works at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Campus Facility in Petaluma./Register
