A 50-year-old Yountville man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident along Dry Creek Road Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 2:41 p.m., as he drove a Harley Davidson motorcycle east on the 5900 block of Dry Creek Road and lost control of the bike. California Highway Patrol Lt. Mike Berger said the man ran off the roadway and went into an embankment.

"We suspect speed was involved as well as possible DUI," Berger said. "Folks on the scene smelled alcohol on the guy."

The man, whose name was not available at press time, sustained major head and internal injuries. Officers closed a stretch of the roadway to make way for a helicopter to land and transport the man to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Berger said the man was in surgery at the hospital and that a toxicology report will reveal if he had alcohol in his system at the time of the wreck.

Meth arrest

A traffic stop landed a Napa man in jail Sunday afternoon.

Napa Police arrested James Edward Cull, 22, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and violation of parole. Officers pulled Cull over in the area of Old Sonoma and Foster Roads at 2:45 p.m., for a vehicle violation, Napa Police Sgt. John Kostelac said.

Kostelac said that the officers observed Cull lower the front passenger window of the Toyota he was driving and throw a bag out of it. The officers found that the bag contained some meth and took Cull to jail. Cull was on parole at the time of his arrest, Kostelac said.
