The Napa Valley Contra Dance holds its final dance evening. Help 'wake' the dance in formal holiday attire (but comfortable for dancing, with sensible shoes). Guests encouraged to bring a dessert to share at the potluck. No partner nor experience necessary. Beginners' lesson at 7:15 (be on time), and dancing 7:30—10:30. This is the last dance at Tucker Farm Center. Contact Celia for information on other area dances.

Nature lovers and friends can get their hands on fresh greens, berries and adornments to joyfully create wreaths and swags for their homes or for someone who can't make it themselves. Bird feeders, picture frames and garlands of popcorn and berries are awaiting your personal touch. Activities for young and young at heart abound. In between activities, enjoy warm apple cider, gingerbread and other yuletide goodies. Shop early at the gift shop, recently stocked with seasonally decorated boxes and picture frames. Names for door prizes drawn every 2 hours.

Educational sessions on the new Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) forms, which detail a person's wishes for end of life care, are held on:

Dec. 2, 11:15 a.m. at The Springs, 3460 Villa Lane, in Napa.

Dec. 3, 9 a.m. at Rianda House, 1475 Main St., in St. Helena.

Dec. 4, 10:30 a.m., Napa Senior Center, 1500 Jefferson St., in Napa.

These sessions introduce the new forms, which were enacted into law in January 2009, allowing people to specify their exact wishes on preferred medical care in the last year or so of life. These new forms, which must be signed by a physician, are going to replace the current community DNR forms, which specify when a person no longer wants to have CPR performed once their heart has stopped beathing. Educational sessions are also available to be scheduled with community groups and organizations.

The Boobie Savers Team walking the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer hold a fundraiser at Mary's Pizza Shack. Twenty percent of your ticket from your meal is donated to the Boobie Savers team. Each member of this team needs to raise a minimum of $$1,800 in order to participate in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The Avon Foundation takes donations from the walk and puts them toward grants for local charities. These charities provide women and men with mammograms, hot meals during chemo and much more. The Democrats of Napa Valley and UNCOIL present a free screening of the critically acclaimed Robert Greenwald film, 'Rethink Afghanistan,' a thought—provoking exploration of the ongoing U.S. military engagement in Afghanistan. The event features as its moderator Clarence Kent, a Napa Valley College professor of political science, history and religion.

Mr. Kent is a graduate of Antioch college and Yale university with a master’s degree in Chinese area studies, with 10 years of international experience in Asia and Central America, who has been an educator for 30 years in the subject areas of history, political science and comparative religion at community colleges in Arizona and California.

Main Street Bethlehem is a re—creation of that night, with live characters, live animals, a living nativity, shops and activities as they were on that Holy Night.
