American Canyon Police and Napa County Sheriff’s deputies descended on a quiet American Canyon neighborhood in response to a report of a person being shot in the area Saturday afternoon.

Police responded to a home on Tolentino Drive at 3:46 p.m., and discovered that no one had been shot, but that someone at the residence had fired a shot from an unspecified weapon, American Canyon Sgt. Chris Perry said.
Perry said that two or more people were involved in an argument when the shot was fired.

The nature of the argument as well as the events that led up to the shooting were not available at press time, as authorities were busy interviewing witnesses Saturday evening.
One neighbor, J.R. Enriquez, said that his next-door neighbor came to his home and frantically rang his doorbell, shortly after he heard a group of men arguing next door.

“The lady of the house (next door) rang our doorbell and she called 911,” he said. “She was hysterical.”
Enriquez said he did not hear a gunshot.

Sheriff’s deputies and American Canyon Police closed off Tolentino Drive, at Marcello Court and Camerino Creek, as they investigated the scene of the shooting.

Perry said no injuries were reported.

" The question I'm asking is "why was the garage open and police officers present at the residence until the wee hours of this morning? "
