Camellia lovers and growers meet on the second Monday of the month from October through May at the Senior Center, 1500 Jefferson St., Napa. The public is always invited to enjoy the program, and a refreshment and social time that follows.

On MGary Sampson, manager of Van Winden’s Garden Center will present “Oldies are Goldies, Etcetera.”
Many “oldies” (e.g., Cornelian, Mathotiana, Pink Perfection) still walk away with the Best of Show trophies in competition with new hybrids, colored and fragrant camellias.

Sampson’s interest in camellias began in 1983 when he owned Napa Greenery Nursery in Browns Valley. He inherited the many camellias planted around the nursery by the former owner as well as his books and memorabilia. Sampson is an original member of the Camellia Society. Guests  are invited to bring their own memorabilia to show and tell.
