NOTES AND QUOTES for a Thursday in the Napa Valley:

Napa and Vintage High Schools will meet in their annual girls powderpuff flag football game on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
Admission prices are $6 for adults and $3 for students. There are no discounts and passes will not be honored.

Proceeds from the game support the powderpuff program and are also used for scholarships. Two scholarships are awarded each year.

Comcast will carry Friday night’s Napa-Vacaville Monticello Empire League football game on a taped basis.
It will he shown on Comcast Channel 104 on Saturday at 7 p.m., Sunday at 1 p.m., and Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.

Comcast Sportsnet California will have it on Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. It will also be on at that time on Direct TV Channel 698 and Dish Network Channel 409.

On Demand will also carry it starting Monday.

Miranda Sanderson, a freshman outside hitter from Napa, had five kills and two digs for the University of Redlands’ volleyball team in a 3-0 win over Cal Tech last week.

Sanderson played volleyball at Vintage High and has also played for the Evolve, Napa Crush and Golden Bear club programs.

Sanderson was All-Monticello Empire League and Second-Team All-Napa County for Vintage

The Solano Community College women’s soccer team clinched its third straight Bay Valley Conference title with Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Yuba College-Marysville. It’s the program’s sixth championship in eight years.

The Falcons (15-2-2 overall, 8-0-0 BVC), who have several Napa Valley players on their roster, are ranked No. 11 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America junior college Division III poll.

The 2010 PGA Tour FedExCup schedule will again feature 37 regular season events to be followed by four PGA Tour Playoff events for the FedExCup.

The FedExCup season will begin the week of Jan. 4-10 with the SBS Championship at Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii and will conclude the week of Sept. 20-26 at The Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola in Atlanta.

Among the changes to the schedule is the Reno-Tahoe Open moving to an earlier date, the week of July 12-18.

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am will see Monterey Peninsula Country Club join the rotation, replacing Poppy Hills.

The U.S. Open will return to Pebble Beach (June 14-20).

U.S. Figure Skating announced Wednesday the selection of San Jose as the host city for the 2012 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Jan. 22-29, 2012.

The event, held annually since 1914, is the nation’s most prestigious figure skating event, with past winners including such skating luminaries as Michelle Kwan, Kristi Yamaguchi, Brian Boitano and Scott Hamilton. National champions will be crowned in 12 events: ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dancing at the senior, junior and novice levels.
