NorCal Outlaws merges
with Strike Zone
The NorCal Outlaws 12-and-under softball organization has merged with Strike Zone (http://www.eteamz.com/strikezone18gold).
The Strike Zone will be holding tryouts on Nov. 14 and 15 in Fairfield. The team will start practicing the third week of January. The team will be coached by Rick Robben (www.rickrobbenhitting.com). Robben has been coaching for over 20 years and has placed over 40 players in Division I programs.

Big Game XXXVIII
tickets on sale
Vintage High School, the host school for Big Game XXXVIII, has announced that tickets are available for purchase online at the Vintage High webstore.
This year’s Big Game is Friday, Nov. 13.
Tickets can be purchased at the Vintage High webstore. The webstore can be accessed through the school’s website at www.vhs.nvusd.k12.ca.us. Click on the shopping cart in the top left-hand corner. Tickets purchased through this site can be picked up the next day at the Vintage High administration office or at will-call the day of the game. The will-call booth will be located at the southeast corner of the stadium, next to the building at 1400 Menlo Ave. You may also purchase tickets from the Vintage High and Napa High school sites. All ticket presales will end at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12.
Ticket prices will be $9 for adults and $6 for middle and elementary school students. Napa High students with a super punch will pay $3 and those without a super punch will be charged $6. Vintage High students with a super punch will receive a free ticket, which must be picked up at the activities office. The will-call booth will open at 2 p.m. the day of the game and the gates will open at 4 p.m. Due to a cap on ticket sales, spectators are urged to buy their tickets before the day of the game. There will be limited ticket sales on game day with sales beginning at 2 p.m.
Only CIF, Monticello Empire League and Vintage High booster passes will be honored. Vintage booster pass holders must pick up their tickets at Vintage High by Thursday before the game. Napa booster pass holders must purchase a ticket, but NHS reserved seating will be honored.
Napa Valley Swim Team offers training program
The Napa Valley Swim Team is once again offering its high school training program for high school age athletes of all ability levels. The three-month session will begin with registration and the first workout is on Monday, Nov. 9, at the Napa Valley College pool at 5 p.m. Practices will be held at the Napa Valley College pool, Monday through Friday, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The high school training program costs $340 for the entire three-month program with no additional fundraising required. There is an annual USA Swimming registration fee of $50, which will provide valid USA Swimming membership throughout 2010.

Napa Optimist Youth Basketball sign-ups Nov. 7
Napa Optimist Youth Basketball will conduct final sign-ups for high school boys in the 9th-10th and 11th-12th divisions on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the foyer of the Napa Valley College gym.
Those unable to make the sign-ups can contact Parker Hall of Napa Optimist Youth Basketball at 252-0739.
Napa Junior Girls Softball League registration Nov. 14
The Napa Junior Girls Softball League will be conducting registration during the month of November. The league is open to all girls in grades 2-7. The league is now accepting girls in second grade to join. Practices will begin in March and games will be played in April through June.
The $100 registration fee includes a team shirt, photo package and awards. Partial scholarships are available. Players signing up for the first time will need to show proof of age with a birth certificate.
Registration will be held at Replay Sports on Lincoln Avenue on Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

EVOLVE Volleyball Club tryouts Nov. 8, Nov. 15
Tryouts for the EVOLVE Volleyball Club, headed by Justin-Siena volleyball coach Kelly Porter and Napa Valley College coach Kelly Van Winden, will be held Nov. 8 and Nov. 15 at Napa Valley College.
Sessions for 12-and-under and 14-and-under players will be from 5 to 7 p.m. each day. For 16-and-under and 18-and-under players, tryouts will be from 7 to 9 p.m. A $20 fee will be required during check in each day.

Skyline Volleyball Club tryouts start Nov. 7
Tryouts for Napa’s Skyline Volleyball Club will be held on Nov. 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 2 to 5 p.m., and Nov. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or from 2 to 5 p.m.
The $50 fee covers all tryouts attended.
The location for the tryouts is the Boys and Girls Club of Napa Valley, 1515 Pueblo Ave., Napa, 255-8866.

Free e-waste collection fundraiser for UC Davis Nov. 7
A free e-waste collection fundraiser for UC Davis softball and field hockey is Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the east entrance at Aggie Stadium (Hutchinson/LaRue), on the UCD campus. It’s sponsored by California Electronic Asset Recovery.
Organizers will accept monitors, televisions, desktop and notebook PCs, VCRs, stereo equipment, speakers, keyboards, digital cameras, zip drives, telephones, cell phones, printers, copiers, laser and multifunction scanners, and fax machines.
