Last week: Clear Lake defeated Upper Lake 42-0, led by running back Kevin Burt’s 209 yards rushing on just 14 carries, including a 98-yarder to paydirt. The Saints lost 42-0 to St. Vincent-Petaluma.

Offensively, the Cardinals are led by Burt, who has 1,154 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns. Defensively, Derek Larsen recorded two quarterback sacks against the Cougars.
Last season: The Saints defeated Clear Lake 7-0 in the finale to prevent the Cardinals from taking sole possession of first place in the NCL I South.

Ezequiel Valdivia scored the game’s only touchdown from 2 yards away, with Will Saladin adding the extra point.
Field house dedication slated for Nov. 13: The dedication ceremony for the new field house multipurpose building at St. Helena High School will be on Friday, Nov. 13 at 4:30 p.m. The Saints football teams host Upper Lake at 5:30 p.m. (JV) and 7:30 p.m. (varsity) that night.

The field house is located between the pool and tennis courts on the high school campus. The public is invited to the ceremony.
Particelli a busy man: St. Helena senior wide receiver Dante Particelli continues to finish his season and career on a strong note. Particelli had 108 yards of total offense last week at St. Vincent. He caught seven passes for 63 yards and carried five times for 45 yards.

No free passes: Clear Lake attempted nary a pass in last week’s game at Upper Lake — then again, with the aforementioned Burt rushing for 209 yards, why pass at all?

Looking for a change: The Saints have not won at Clear Lake since rejoining the CIF North Coast Section in 2000, when they returned after a 15-year stint in the Sac-Joaquin Section.

Saints head coach Brandon Farrell says: “They (Clear Lake) are quick. They do not run as wide as St. Vincent. They do a very good job of running in space. Clear Lake tightens it up a little more. Hopefully that gives us a better chance and we’ll see what happens.”  — Vince D’Adamo
