Last week: Justin-Siena had a bye. Redwood lost to Tamalpais, 28-21.

Confidence questioned: Braves head coach Rich Cotruvo isn’t worried about his team looking past 2-6 Redwood.
“We haven’t proven ourselves to each other,” he said. “I’m not worried about cockiness. I’m worried about us having enough confidence in ourselves.”

Scouting report: “They’ve got a good receiving corps and a good scrambling quarterback,” Cotruvo said of Redwood. “We’ve got to be able to contain their quarterback.”
Playoff chase: The Braves need to win their final two MCAL games to finish .500 and be considered for a North Coast Section Division IV at-large playoff berth.

“We finished .500 in 2002 and made it to the championship game,” Cotruvo said. “We play teams in our conference who are much better than some other (playoff) teams who are 6-1.”
Justin lost the title game in Ferndale, 7-6, in 2002.

Stat story: Justin’s Eddie Aguayo has passed for 1,028 yards and rushed for 885. Roderick Sweeney is emerging as a rushing threat, as the junior has run for 172 yards in just 28 attempts.

Injury list: Justin will once again be without starting offensive lineman Kyle Kray and defensive tackle Jeff Dunbar.

Both are still injured after sitting out the loss to Novato two weeks ago.

Next week: Justin finishes the regular season Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at Terra Linda.

“Terra Linda’s a decent 4-4 team. They’re better than some of the teams who’ll make the playoffs in our division,” said Cotruvo.
