Justin-Siena’s Jeramanz rolls into tennis semis

It was a beautiful, warm, fall afternoon Monday with plenty of good tennis on the opening day of the Marin County Athletic League’s girls singles and doubles championships. All the top seeds in the tournament advanced with no upsets.

In the No. 1 singles bracket, fourth seed Maja Jeramanz, from Justin-Siena High School, beat Kylie Flanagan of Branson, 6-3, 7-5.
Jeramaz will take on top seed, Laura Posylkin from San Marin-Novato in the semifinals. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Rolling Hills Club in Novato.

In the No. 2 singles bracket, second seed, Rachel Carston of Justin-Siena beat Monica Denny from Novato, 6-1, 6-1. The four seed, Kelsea Thomas from Justin Siena was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Ryan Derham of Sir Francis Drake-San Anselmo. Both advance to play in the semifinals today at San Marin.
Megan Gallagher of Justin-Siena lost to Annie Green of San Rafael losing, 11-9 in a third-set tiebreaker in the No. 3 singles draw. Also, in the third singles draw, Isabelle Mieling of Justin-Siena lost to Emily Wilmore of San Marin, 6-2, 6-3.

In the No. 2 doubles draw, the fourth seed, Camellia Khalvati and Kelly Kromhout of Marin Catholic-Kentfield won, 6-3, 6-3, over Jane Bassignani and Tori Roomian of Justin-Siena. Unseeded Jette Nordemann and Fernanda Olivera beat Amanda Cardey and Maria DeSalvo of San Marin 6-4, 7-6 (5). They will advance to the quarterfinals today.
Play continues today at Novato High, San Marin High and the Rolling Hills Club.

All finals are scheduled for Wednesday at the Rolling Hills Club in Novato.
