Let's do the right things, right now
Dear editor, what this state needs is responsible representation. We need those in positions of power to obey the oaths they took and enforce the laws we have on the books already.
We don’t need more gun laws; we need to enforce the laws we have and not allow the penalties to be plea bargained away by the courts and its officers. If you want to stop criminals using guns, enforce the laws designed to penalize them if they do use a gun in a crime. It doesn’t make sense to pass laws that penalize honest citizens and do nothing to discourage or deter crime.
We don’t have an illegal immigration problem here; we have illegal folks here taxing our resources. We need to ensure that our borders are enforced by our government agencies. We do not need to have various mayors declare sanctuary cities and violate the oaths they assumed in taking office. How can we trust this candidate?
We don’t have a budget crisis; we have a legislature that works to get re-elected, not pass a budget as required by our constitution. Let’s spare them the desire to pass new laws by enforcing the good laws we have already. This will allow them more time to do the job we hire or elect them to do with the budget. And do it in time.
Let’s live within our means, create jobs by enforcing immigration laws. Penalize those companies who choose to hire illegals; let those companies go to those countries and keep their business there. In the long term it is better for our market to keep American jobs and keep American buyers.
FDR hit it on the head: “There is nothing so wrong with America that it cannot be fixed by what is right with America.” We need an FDR right now, backed by a strong law and order candidate ethic to enforce the codes we have all agreed to live within.
We need to have the confidence of what is right with America and California. We have the monies here; let’s reestablish the mind set that we can win and will win together.
So to paraphrase, “There is nothing so wrong with California that it cannot be fixed by what is right with California!”

GOP, please keep knocking Social Security and Medicare...you'll be in the weeds for a while.
Freeport, I thought you guys hated deficit spending...so then why would you want Reagan back? You only hate deficit spending when a Democratic President does it? "

Looks to me as if every talking point in this letter is moderate with a lean to conservative, and yet y'all got nothin better to do than lambaste the writer over his choice of an example, as if demonizing democrats is more important than a reasoned response.
Its really kind of sad.
I agree with the writer, the Legislature needs to stop writing useless junk and get down to dealing with the issue at hand, the budget. Absolutely nothing else if of any importance right now. "

The letter is well balanced and offers common sense thoughtfulness. It gives me hope, that someone is offering solutions rather than just complaining. "
