Smoke in hills is from house fire

5:15 p.m.Firefighters are working to snuff a fire in a two-story house on Cottonwood Court near Country Club Lane and Circle Oaks Drive.

The fire broke out at about 4:15 p.m., causing a plume of smoke visible for miles. Most of the damage was to the home’s top floor, CalFire said.
All occupants were able to escape and there were no injuries.

Firefighters remain at the scene putting out the last of the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation, CalFire said.
Responding were Capell Valley Fire, Napa County Fire, Napa City Fire, Gordon Valley Fire, CalFire and Soda Canyon Fire.

" I live a short distance away to the south and saw the plume from our deck. Hustled over to check on the neighbors place although the smoke did appear farther away. I wanted to make sure in any case. Good thing this wasn't on a 100+ day in July where any little ember could get all the dry grass going. "
