Investigators on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of tying up a sales clerk and robbing a Subway restaurant in American Canyon.

Napa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Vallejo resident Juan Carlos Perez, 31.
On Oct. 1, Perez allegedly entered Subway and brandished a weapon, police said. He tied up a store clerk and took an undisclosed amount of cash. He fled west through the shopping center plaza, sparking a search, police said.

Investigators declined to say how they pinpointed Perez as a suspect.
“They’re not saying much because the case is under investigation,” said Tracey Stuart, Napa County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

They arrested Perez following an interview at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, she said. A manager at Subway declined to comment.
Police Chief Brian Banducci said there’s no indication that Perez is connected to another recent American Canyon robbery at Broadway Market.

Law enforcement authorities are still searching for a man who entered the market, demanded money and fired a bullet into the wall behind the clerk.

The suspect of the Broadway Market robbery is described as a Hispanic male about 20 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall.  He was wearing a teal-colored hooded jacket or sweatshirt over a black shirt and a black mask. He was carrying a teal-colored backpack and a handgun.

Anyone who sees a possible suspect is asked not to approach him, but to call 911.

" So glad to read that at least one of the robbers has been arrested.
Having been through a similar situation I have the utmost empathy for the cashiers in these two robberies. I hope they both are able to talk to someone to help them get through this, and hope they don't go through the years of fear that I went through.
God Bless both of them. "
