NAPA -- Longtime Napa resident Phyllis Crandall passed away Oct. 22, 2009, at a local nursing home, following years of declining health. The San Francisco native, daughter of Drummond and Helen Baker MacGavin, was born July 15, 1926, and spent her childhood in Marin County before going on to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley.

She married fellow Cal graduate Harold E. Crandall, a descendant of early Napa settlers, and moved to Napa.
Survivors include her son, Scott, sisters, Katy Dickey and Barbara McCarthy, as well as four grandchildren.

Private services were held with burial in the family plot at Tulocay Cemetery.
Contributions in her memory to a charity of the donor’s choice have been suggested by the family.

Memories and condolences may be sent to the family online at www.treadwayandwiggerfuneralchapel.com.

" Is this the Mrs. Crandall that worked as the Head Secretary at Northwood Elementary School?
I have great and wonderful memories of her. She and Mr. Martin were both very
influential to me.... God bless...

" Coincidentally my mother Phyllis Crandall, Vera Franck, and Norman Long had known each other for nearly 50 years as we all lived in the same neighborhood and I went to school with their children. They were all nearly the same age as well.

" To Major Domo,

I believe that Mrs.Crandall was my aunt but I'm not sure. She was a secretary at a school but I'm not sure which one.
