After a two-year hiatus, Roger Bubel is returning to Justin-Siena High School as the Braves’ head wrestling coach. The announcement was made by athletic director Michael Fisher.

In his previous tenure, Bubel led the Justin-Siena wrestling program to an overall record of 24-8 over a four-year period. This included a Marin County Athletic League and MCAL Tournament title, six league championship medals, and a CIF North Coast Section Class A Team Dual Meet championship.
“We are very excited to have Roger return to Justin-Siena as the head wrestling coach,” said Fisher. “Roger has always been around the program since he left, supporting and cheering on the kids. It is great to welcome him back to the family.”

Bubel created the King of the Valley Tournament for Napa County high schools.
Bubel takes over for Wayne Law, who stepped down.

The Amgen Tour of California, a professional cycling road race, will travel to 16 host cities throughout the state over the course of eight days from May 16-23, 2010. The Tour de France-style road race had been held in February.

The fifth annual event, considered to be the most important and prestigious cycling race in the country, will feature Lance Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France winner. Armstrong will start the 2010 season on his newly formed Team RadioShack.

The Amgen Tour of California will cover more than 750 miles of California terrain, beginning with the first ever visit to Nevada City, which will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Nevada City Classic. The overall finish will take place in Thousand Oaks.

The actual turn-by-turn route for Stage 2 of the race, which is from Davis to Santa Rosa on May 17, has not yet been determined, a spokesperson with the event said. The exact routes will be worked out over the next couple of months.

The CIF North Coast Section announced last week that the high school athletic organization has signed a three-year partnership with iBN Sports, an Internet sports television broadcast company, beginning with the 2009-2010 season.

Already partnered with the CIF Southern Section, iBN Sports is preparing to increase the growth in live sports content on its High School Sports channel. iBN has already broadcast several NCS member school football games.

The network plans to stream over 500 live high school sports contests throughout California this year, including North Coast Section football games. Viewers can log onto www.ibnsports.com to watch the high school sports action. However, the partnership is not restricted to football.

iBN Sports will also cover volleyball, softball, soccer, basketball and baseball.
