NAPA -- Dennis Patric Henry, a lifelong resident of Napa, passed away suddenly at his home in Napa.

Dennis was born Dec. 26, 1961, at the Queen of the Valley Hospital, in Napa. At the time of his death, he was 47 years old.
He is survived by his daughter, Caitlin Ann Henry, and her mother, Lori Crowley of Napa; mother Dianne Henry of Napa; father Jack Henry of Southern California; half-sister Amy; uncles Richard (Mary) and Dan (Stephanie) Lonergan of Napa; cousins Rebecca Lonergan (David Bousfield) of Los Gatos, Matthew Lonergan of Martinez, Kelly (Eli) Caul of Santa Rosa and Amy (Tad) Samolis of Napa; cousins Scott and Shelly Henry, and all the wonderful children of these cousins.

Dennis graduated from Napa High School in 1980, where he was active in sports, playing football and participating in track. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. For four years, he was assigned to the USS Ranger and advanced to the rank of quartermaster.
After his military service, Dennis was employed by Noyes Lumber, Albion Land Survey and at the time of his death was employed by the County of Napa Public Works Department as an Engineer Assistant II.

Dennis was more of a brother to his cousins and his friends, more of a son to his uncles and aunts, a wonderful son to his mother and a great father to his lovely Cate, of whom he was so very proud. He was a gifted artist and enjoyed football, golf and kayaking. He thought the world of his many, many friends and co-workers. He is sorely missed and will always be remembered.

" Dennis...Rest in Peace. I shall never forget our times spent together. The many conversations we had that made me feel you were my kindred spirit.

You were authentic and true.

May your soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

I shall never forget you..my dear friend.

" Dennis loved navigating and mapmaking, good strong coffee and being outdoors. He is sorely missed. While I understand his request for a private service, I wonder if anyone is having a party for him. There are a lot of people still reeling from this tragedy who would welcome that. "

" I served with Dennis in the Navy, we we're stationed on board the USS Ranger CV-61. It was quite a joy to meet Petty Officer Second Class Henry in my first year aboard ship. A mutual friend introduced us knowing we where both from Napa High School. We sat down and talked about Napa and the people and places we knew. This was very comforting to me being 18 yrs and the new guy on an air craft carrier in the middle of the Indian ocean. Dennis made me feel welcome in a big strange place. I'm sorry to here of his loss, he was a great man and he loved our country. "

" 'Technically' my cousin, Dennis really was a big brother to me. Generous, caring, devoted, smart, fun, creative.... his love will be with me always.

Thank you all so much for your caring posts and your attendance at his Celebration.
It means everything to me to hear from his friends what he means to you.

" We're all damn lucky to have shared friendships with Dennis. Nobody could make me laugh like Old Denny Boy! Just spent the weekend shut indoors watching Monty Python and cracking up thinking of all of the skits that we used to laugh at. Our favorite was Salad Days!! I miss the heck out of you my friend. My thoughts are with family and extended family. Rob Alcantara "
