" Why am I not surprised that one of these tea party protesters brought up the birth certificate again? Give it up! "

" High comedy.

Also ironic the disproportionate amount of coverage to a demonstration of 35 people who say the media isn't paying enough attention to them. "

" If Obama has nothing to hide and is a "natural born" citizen in accordance with the U.S. Constitution, then he should "give it up" and release a certified duplicate copy of his "vault" birth certificate along with his college records, passport records, and State Senate records from Illinois.

Where's the transparency that you promised, Mr. Obama, or should I say, Mr. Soetoro? "

" MissNapaValley-

Have you took the time yet to research the mis truths I pointed out about your birther conspiracy yet? "

MissNapaValley wrote on Oct 20, 2009 3:03 PM:

" Why has Obama spent over $1 million dollars defending himself in litigation when he could quickly and easily prove his constitutional eligibilty to be President by simply providing a certified duplicate copy of his "vault" birth certificate (at a cost of up to $25.00) to the plaintiffs along with other records (passport, State Senate, & school records) which would support his claimed "natural born" status?

What are you hiding Mr. Obama? Or is it Mr. Soetoro? "

Please explain why there is a birth announcement of our president in the Hawaiian newspaper on microfiche. Did this grand conspiracy begin before he was born??
I'll wait for your explanation. "

" MissNapaValley -

Are legal fees an indication of wrong doing? If an innocent person is sued, he still must defend himself.

Note that Sarah Palin had exceptionally large legal bills in spite of no major convictions. Was she guilty simply because of the charges against her?

John McCain had to spend a considerable amount defending himself against suits that he was not a “natural born citizen.” Does that mean he was guilty?

From what I can see, Obama’s legal bills are not targeted specifically to suits about his birth certificate, but to all matters relating to an election. While they seem exceptionally high to us, they aren’t exceptionally high to presidents, who are running campaigns with expenses in the hundreds of millions. It’s just a small percentage of the whole. " Miss NV, bless your little heart - the president of the United States is also Commander in Chief of the US military forces. Whoever the person in office is, male or female, red or blue, human or alien - he/she must have the highest security clearance possible in our country. Don't you think during the extensive background checks, someone at the Pentagon, CIA, FBI, Secret Service, Homeland Security or other agencies would have noticed if Barack Obama was not a US citizen? If indeed, he has pulled the wool over all their eyes, then he has pulled off the most amazing conspiracy in the history of humankind! I say BRAVO - let him have the job if he wanted it that badly! But why would he? It's not like it pays very well and he has to live in a rental for 4 years and place his life in danger and give up privacy and security for the rest of his life. Your theory just doesn't make sense. In more ways than one. Please honey, stop embarrasing yourself. "

" Quite frankly, I believe he was born in Hawaii.

But, when he was adopted by lulu Sotoero he became an Idonesian citizen. I think that is what is being hidden in his records. That the only way he could have traveled to Pakistan from the U.S. at the time.
And just so you all know, his first US passport was given to him when hge became a U.S. senator.

wyngyrl-we would like to think so, but by the mere fact the he was friends with Bill Ayers, that alone would deny him security clearence. that is driect from retired FBI.
After all why else would he hide ALL of his records? "

" One of the many hilarious things about the birthers is that even if you grant their premise (not that they can agree where they think he was born - some say Kenya, some Indonesia, etc), it's not even clear that he would be disqualified from being President since his mother was a US Citizen.

Here is the law, from US CODE Title 8, 1401: "a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years."

The issue is what "natural born citizen" means, and most legal interpretations of this would consider Obama (and McCain) natural born under the constitution. "

" US Flag Code
Title 36, Chapter 10, §176. Respect for flag
• (b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
• (c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
• (d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery.

Please folks, show respect for a symbol of our country. Don’t treat the flag as a toy. Don’t make clothing out of it. Don’t leave it lying on the ground. Don’t drag it on the ground. Learn how to treat our flag if you are going to use it at your gatherings.

Yea, I know, "just because it is in Wikipedia doesn't make it a fact". Just check out the history and records available.
What the "birther" controversy is really about is raising money and generating email addresses for conservative political causes. This is why moderate Republicans will not completely distance themselves for the "wingnuts". They supply a lot of cash and boots on the ground. They are happy to mine the "true believers" when they can. I think that they ultimately will suffer for it, because it will resullt in Republican candidates that the birthers love, but cannot get elected. "

" I agree with nhs67rules completely. Sadly there are still millions of people who don't like a black man as their president. Questioning Obama's birth certificate or emphasizing his middle name seems to be two of the most common tactics. Lively debate about the direction of this country is headed should always be encouraged, but the nonsense about Obama's place of birth and his middle name is really pathetic. "

" While people bicker about birth certificates and race, the republicrats continue to flush the last vestiges of our economy down the proverbial toilet.
As the the banks that are "too big too fail" hide toxic assets, TARP trillions supplied by the taxpayers goes into huge international banking conglomerations.
I suppose in another 6 months to a year we will all be asked to pony up a second round of trillion-dollar TARP relief...the fiddle plays on as Rome burns...
I hope I'm wrong, but i'm not so sure anymore. "

PattiPat wrote on Oct 21, 2009 1:09 PM:

" Do you know that a huge, and ever growing number of people are actually more focused on the question about Obamas dual citizenship and the constitutional requirement that the President be a "natural born citizen"?
Do you know what a Natural Born Citizen is? If you answer “a child born on American soil,” you are only partially correct.

There are many, many references to the term in our written history, and one common definition is repeated over and over:

A Natural Born Citizen is born to two American Citizens on American Soil.

Nowhere in history is "natural born citizen" defined in such a way that would allow a person with divided loyalty to be President.

Simply stated, Barack Obama ll is constitutionally ineligible to be the President of the United States. Born a dual citizen of Britain and the United States, as he states in his own book "Dreams from My Father", Obama does not meet the "natural born citizen" requirements in our Constitution.

Mr. Obama, Sr was a Kenyan (British) citizen in the United States on a student visa. Thus, Barack Obama was born with both Kenyan (British) and American citizenship. This is precisely what the Framers guarded against when they wrote the Constitution and put the strict Natural Born Citizen requirement in place. It makes no difference that he lost his Kenyan citizenship at the age of 21, the Constitution is only concerned with citizenship at the time of birth. "

Raven wrote on Oct 21, 2009 11:42 PM:

" pattipat, a natural born citizen does not have to have two American parents....you make want to double check current, and past, US code on what constitutes a citizen and what the courts have said on the subject. "
