1 p.m.OAKLAND — A hearing will continue into a third day as a judge considers arguments for a change of venue in the case of a former BART officer charged in the killing of an unarmed man.

Jury expert Craig New was back on the stand for most of the day Wednesday, where he continued to be questioned about a survey that found a majority of people asked knew about the case against Johannes Mehserle.
The survey conducted by a California State University, Chico professor found that nearly 97 percent of about 400 potential Alameda County jurors knew details about the case.

Mehserle, 27, a 2000 graduate of New Technology High School in Napa and also of the Napa Valley College Police Academy, is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Oscar Grant at the Fruitvale BART station on New Year’s Day.
He has pleaded not guilty in the case.
