5:15 p.m.The Napa Police Department has finished its investigation into allegations that Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable assaulted a member of his coaching staff member on Aug. 5.

The team was in Napa for summer training camp when a dispute broke out. Raiders assistant coach Randy Hansen went to Queen of the Valley Medical Center with a broken jaw. Initially, he refused to press charges, but later agreed to cooperate with investigators.
Hanson's attorney told NFL.com last week that the assistant coach told police that Cable was the person who attacked him.

The police department forwarded its investigation to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office. Napa Police Commander Andy Lewis declined to give any further details.
A staff member with the DA’s office said the case is under review and no further information is available at this time.

Cable declined to comment on the reports at a news conference Monday, saying he'll let the legal process play out. Cable said the reports ever since the alleged attack have not been a distraction for him as he focuses on his job.
“It can’t. When it all is resolved, you’ll understand why I’m acting the way I am,” he said. “It’s just something I’m not going to talk about and shouldn’t talk about. I’ll let that process do its thing.”

Hanson was also a key player in the dispute that helped lead to coach Lane Kiffin’s firing last season. Kiffin suspended Hanson after the assistant criticized the coaching staff in a meeting following a 41-14 season-opening loss to Denver. Owner Al Davis later reinstated Hanson and Kiffin was fired a few weeks later.

FoxSports.com reported over the weekend that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he wanted to meet with Cable as part of the league’s investigation into the incident to determine whether Cable violated the league’s personal conduct policy. According to the policy, a coach or player can be disciplined for “violent or threatening behavior among employees, whether in or outside the workplace.”

The Raiders will be in New Jersey this weekend to take on the New York Giants, making a meeting with Goodell logistically easy. League spokesman Greg Aiello and Cable both said Monday that no meeting has been scheduled.

Josh Dubow of The Associated Press contributed to this report.

" Maybe they should do an ivestigation on all that money the raiders paid Jamarcus Russel, now thats a crime. Or why the Raiders make fans pay to watch there games, thats an even bigger crime "

" I agree, but there is one simple answer for both questions, Al Davis. Until he steps out of the way nothing positive can happen here. Russell is a huge BUST! Why does he fall down whenever he gets touched now, in college he threw people off of him. He is still bigger than alot of the guys trying to tackle him, but if they brush up next to him, he goes down. Is he really that scared?
I am not watching anymore Raider games this year unless, 1. Russell is benched or has more touchdowns than interceptions in a game, (The 2nd will NEVERhappen) 2. New ownership.
I have been a Raiders fan since I was a few years old and I have never been as disappointed as the last few years. "

" Takes real brains to punch someone if you're a high-profile public figure.

Of course, the way the Raiders are playing gives a pretty good indication about the brains behind the team.

I'd wanna punch someone too if I had to work for Al Davis. "

" The legal implications are more serious than the article suggests. Cable didn't "assault" Hanson-- assault is putting someone in imminent fear of being hit-- Cable battered his assistant. And that carries a greater penalty than just assault. I doubt going to jail or having that on one's record is justification for poor self control and anger issues. . . "

" to blackpony,
Because if thats the product they are going to put on the field, they shouldnt be charging people to watch it, espically when there slogan is "committed to excellence", sounds like false advertising to me. Unless they are saying that they are "commited to the excellence of being horrible", if that even makes sense. "

" I can tell by most these comments U r Raider Haters..go for it if it makes u feel better, since You or I were not there at this altercations, We can't really say what happened. Hope it turns out o.k. for Cable he reminds me of MADDEN.

I've been a fan since the 60's an I love my Raiders an Mr. DAVIS the man knows more about Football than most ur fans will ever know.

U r screaming.because they are playing poorly?? so other teams have NOT..I remember the old 49ers..check their past records..There have been a lot of teams going thru the slump. I love Cable an his spirit ..Keep bashing We Raider Fans are use to it.. "

Follow the money. "

" To firewater,
Of course your use to it because they have statistically been the worst team in football over the last 7 years. And Mr. Davis knows more about football? Anyone with half a brain couldve told him not to waste money on Dangelo Hall and Javon Walker last season, look how that turned out. Then over paying Jamarcus Russel, whos turning out to be one of the biggest Busts in NFL history, The Raiders had a few good years under John Grudden but other than that this team hasn't been any good for 25 years. The fans don't have to hate, when the players are hating for them. Anyone who ever leaves there just talks about how dysfunctional that business is. If the Raiders business model was put in play in any other part of life, they wouldve been shut down years ago. Just an awful organization "

" "Firewater" should stick to that, instead of the "Al Davis Kool-aid" he's obviously been drinking. It's BECAUSE we've been fans for decades that we now despise the way Al is ruining the franchise. You are apparently o.k. with the fact that an 80-year old guy, regardless of his success in the 1970's and 1980's, is now more than willing to destroy what he created simply because he refuses to let go. He still wants to be the BOSS no matter how much it hurts the team and the fans. Firewater, is that the type of person you often lend your allegiance to? If so, you're a pretty sad excuse for a Raiders fan. Now go spend your money on some nice 50-yard line seats and another #2 jersey (you know you've got at least one already). p.s. to all the actual fans: Russel is a total bust and was before he was even drafted. "

" I have been a die hard Raiders fan forever. I have for many years now, thiught Al Davis wants the team to loose and have financial losses for his tax write off beneffits.
I can not imangine why the NFL allows this man to stay in the NFL.
How can a team of players deal with the political crap from the head office is beyond me.
I have no idea what the DA will end up doing but I am betting thr NFL will come down hard on the coach and perhaps Davis hisself.
Go Raiders! "

" kdbk - gotta agree with you, Russell is a clumsy joke, falls down if you breath on him wrong, and cannot throw short passes. I thought he played the game before, it sure doesn't look like it. I actually saw someone wearing his Jersey this weekend and had to laugh. I am a Raiders fan, have been for over 25 years and there is no way I would have a Jamarcus Russell jersey. Most 2nd string quarterbacks would embarrass him on his best days. What a waste of $60 million. If it wasn't for the Raiders he would be painting fences or something, no other NFL Team would hire this guy. "

" Al Davis is a joke. Tom Cable is a joke. JaMarcus is a bigger JaJoke. We should have kept Jeff Garcia.

Remember the draft a few years ago? You know the one Raider fans? Where we picked up Robert Gallery passing on Aaron Rodgers? Talk about a missed opportunity to start turning things around...

And the schedule provides little hope...
Next week @ NYG = Raiders lose
18th PHI @ OAK = same
25th NYJ @ OAK = hope
11-1 OAK @ SD = loss
11-15 KC @ OAK = win
11-22 CIN @ OAK = loss
11-26 OAK @ DAL = loss and why is the the Thanksgiving Day game! Boring!
12-1 OAK @ PIT = loss
12-13 WASH @ OAK = loss
12-20 OAK @ DEN = loss, JaMarcus can't play in the cold!
12-27 OAK @ CLE = loss, JaMarcus can't play in the cold!
1-3 BAl @ OAK... alas another loss...

That makes the Raiders 2-14 and worse than ever!

BTW: I have 3 jerseys, #40 Pete Banaszak, #77 Lyle Alzado, and #81 Tim Brown. I have been a fan since I met Ken Stabler as a kid in 1975. I was 5 years old.

These are truly sad times for the Silver and Black. Thanks for making me laugh littlered56 and Lexme2~! "
