Pope Valley fires may be arson

4:30 p.m.Fire officials suspect two fires burning in Pope Valley may have been arson.

The first fire, reported at 12:50 p.m., burned 10 acres of brush and grass near Butts Canyon Road and James Creek, according to Cal Fire Battalion Chief and County Fire Marshal Pete Muñoa.
Firefighters contained it at 1:47 p.m.

Cal Fire and Napa County Fire from Pope Valley and Angwin responded with three chief officers, two hand crews, seven engines, one helicopter, three air tankers, one air attack and two bulldozers.
The second fire was reported at 1:08 p.m. near Chiles/Pope Valley Road and Pope Canyon Road, Muñoa said. It burned six acres before firefighters contained it at 2:41 p.m.

Three hand crews, two bulldozers, eight engines, one helicopter, one water tender and five chief officers responded.
The causes of both remain under investigation. Officials warn drivers may meet delays in the area.
