Redistricting

Little did I know that I traveled through the Tannery Bend District on the fateful visit that brought me to Napa.

And I thought the dentist trip was bad ...

My son was so anxious to get into the preschool this morning that he skipped the front door and went to try to get into the playground gate. After I signed the kids in, I made my exit, but not before the requisite number of kisses and hugs. The kids knew that Momma was going to the tooth doctor.

Schools and the Constitution

In its last session, the Supreme Court made a ruling about the 4th amendment rights of students at public schools. In the case is Safford Unified School District v. April Redding, the Supreme Court ruled 8-1 that the strip search of Savana Redding, then a 13-year-old 8th grade student, was unwarranted and violated her 4th amendment right against unreasonable search.

Investing in the workforce to rebuild the U.S. economy

What stores would you like to see in downtown Napa?

As Register writer Kevin Courtney's article states, the city of Napa is spending nearly $100,000 to have a consultant come up with a plan for filling 105,000 square feet of new commercial space and another 76,000 square feet in older buildings that sit empty.

Lessons from the Great Depression

Reading the stories of Napans who remember living through the Great Depression offers lessons for any generation.

It is time for the GOP to act

Vice President Joe Biden has said the administration did not realize how bad the economy was when it urged passage of a stimulus bill that’s failed in its mission. But what it missed is something else. The administration did not realize how deeply the economy would sink because of the holes it was drilling in its hull.

Parade applause should have been reversed

Dear editor,

Well-behaved dogs and people

Dear editor,

Road budgets explained

There was one big pothole on Highway 29 that I had driven over for years, I learned to look out for it every time I drove home, and there it would be. I could count on having to swerve around it. After a while I grew to like looking out for it, swerving on cue every time I went by.

Why do we have a death penalty?

I have often wondered about the logic behind the death penalty.
