Local graduate earns special recognition

Cal Poly’s student newspaper, the Mustang Daily, was named the 2009 College Newspaper of the Year, Division A, by the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers association, earning more points in the competition than any other school in contest history. Division A competition included college and university newspapers with weekly circulation less than 40,000.

Local student graduates from Villanova University

Riana Michelle Mondavi, of St. Helena, graduated from Villanova University, in Villanova, Penn., during a commencement ceremony held Sunday, May 17, 2009, in Villanova Stadium. Mondavi earned the degree of bachelor of science in business administration (marketing and international business).

Dual degrees for Stanford University grad

David James Diaz, of Napa, graduated from Stanford University on June 14, 2009, with dual bachelor of arts degrees in communication and political science. The 2009 class of Stanford graduated 1,735 students, only 34 with dual degrees. The next step for David will be graduate school to earn a joint JD/MBA.
