Dear editor, I am writing in response to Iris Barrie’s letter dated June 19 (“Demonstrators infringe on others rights”) and Kellie Miller’s letter dated June 23 (“Visual assault on Jefferson”).

There has been much confusion in the media between “socialism” and its connection with the trillions of dollars the government has allocated to banks, insurance companies and auto companies.

Having been a teacher for more than 20 years, I always feel a certain amount of frustration when I continue to see year after year attention given to students who make the honor roll or who gain special recognition for “good” grades.

I refer to the recent letter to the editor by Robert and Regina Hermanek about Lake Luciana (“Lake Luciana decision must not stand,” June 22) that takes issue with the membership of the Napa Sierra Club’s political committee, particularly the participation of county supervisors. I am retired from the Napa Sierra Club executive committee, but I still chair the political committee.
