Golf tournament for kids today
James Bickford, an 11-year-old aspiring race car driver, is hosting a “Kids Golf Association” tournament at Vintners Golf Club in Yountville on Thursday, July 2, to raise funds for racing costs.
The 18-hole tournament is open to kids 8 to 12 years old and the entry fee is $50. The event lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be prizes for the first- through fourth-place finishers, as well as an auction at lunch time.

Pure Potential soccer camp set for July
Pure Potential Academy Soccer Camps still has openings for enrollment for the 2009 soccer training season. Abe Torres has a method of training that incorporates a patent visual training aid he has invented to develop accuracy and consistency in soccer fundamentals. The training camps will be held July 6-10 and July 13-17 — both from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at West Park Elementary School. Camps are for the ages of 6 to 14 with a desire to learn. The cost is $125.00 per player. Basketball Jones youth camps return to Napa
Basketball Jones Hoop Camps will host two camps in Napa, at St. Apollinaris Catholic School, July 6-10, and at Napa Valley College, Aug. 10-14. Storm Baseball Academy begins Monday
The Napa Valley College Storm Baseball Academy will be held for players 7 to 12 years of age. There will two sessions, July 6-9 and July 20-23.
Both sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Solano Community College football camp near
The Solano Community College football program, led by head coach Floyd Burnsed, will host a series of two-day youth football clinics in early July.
Here’s a look at the camp offerings and schedules:
• Burnsed, who has coached for over 30 years and specialized in quarterbacking, will conduct a quarterback-receiver-running back clinic July 6-7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each day.
Each youngster will receiver a manual with techniques, rules and drills, as well as a camp T-shirt. Cost is $60 before July 2 and $75 after.
• There will be a linebacker and defensive back camp on July 8-9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each day. The Solano staff and players will address the fundamentals of those positions. Cost is $30 before July 2 and $40 after.
• There will be a lineman camp July 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Cost is $20 in advance and $30 after that date.

Tee Off Fore Kids Golf Invitational July 10
The Active 20-30 Club of Napa will host the inaugural Tee Off Fore Kids Golf Invitational on Friday, July 10, at Eagle Vines Vineyards and Golf Club. Check-in will be 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch at noon. There will be a shotgun start and scramble format play beginning at 1:30 p.m. There will be a dinner and reception at 6 p.m. The cost for golf is $155, and for dinner only is $45. The Active 20-30 Club of Napa is a service club dedicated to serving the special needs of children in the community since 1930. The club’s annual events include the George Carl Kids Fishing Derby, Easter Egg Hunt, Fun Fest, Napa Town & Country Fair Parade and Project Santa.

NBC Basketball Camp July 12-16
The NBC Basketball Camp for boys and girls nine to 18 years of age will be held July 12-16 at Pacific Union College in Angwin.

Summer basketball camps at NVC start July 13
Napa Valley College is offering two summer basketball camps for sixth-, seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders.
The boys camp will be held on July 13-16.
The girls camp will be held on July 27-30.
The camps go from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The registration fee is $80 for the week. Campers must have a waiver filled out by a parent.

Adult Education golf classes start July 13
Napa Valley Adult Education is offering a series of five-week beginning and intermediate golf classes at Vintner’s Golf Club in Yountville.
The cost for the entire five-week session is $97. Beginning golf classes meet Monday or Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., starting July 13 or 14. Intermediate golf classes meet Wednesday or Thursday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., starting July 15 or 16.
