" If you haven't seen Helen Thomas grill the White House's Robert Gibbs you are in for a treat:

Since Helen has been totally in the tank for BO, it's refreshing to see her ask tough questions again. "

" cab-e-girl

good post! i heard the exchange on the radio yesterday and was glad to hear the MSM is figuring out they are being played.

Fixed townhall meetings, filtered\prearranged press questions...Sure sounmds as though our media is more of a propaganda machine than a "Free Press". "

" It is strange that the view counter on that video hasn't changed since the last person commented that it hadn't changed. What's up with that?

How long before the video gets removed?

If Helen Thomas admits to being shocked, well, we can be assured that the administration is not being so transparent. "

" It's really nice that Hellen Thomas gets a chance to be a reporter again. The Bush Administration just refused to take her questions. A nice change, although I'm an uncomfortable one for the Obama Administration. "

A very telling graph on how the Bush deficit stacks up against the Obama deficit. "

" What happened to Helen Thomas when she asked George W. Bush's press secretary some tough questions?

She didn't get to ask questions anymore and she got moved from her traditional 'Grande Dam' location near the podium.

It's hilarious to hear Republicans acting like the Obama administration is even close to being as deceptive as the Bushites were.

" Ruff- If you are so offended by Helen Thomas being stonewalled by the Bush administration, you should even be more outraged by this administration. The only difference is Obama and Gibbs are trying to control all the press who covers the President and all questions asked by the public in a forum that they parade around as a "Townhall Meeting."

As Helen Thomas said "We have never had this in the White House." and "It's a matter of controlling the press." "

freeport56 wrote on Jul 2, 2009 3:05 PM:

" Ruff-

It is not us it was Chip Reid and Helena Thomas bringing the staged and phony Town Hall meetings and press briefings.

I guess they are starting to wake up and find out that the campaign never ended.

Helen and Chip have it right. I am wondering when the rest of the press stooges will get it? "

A link to watch Chip Reid and helen Thomas discuss the manipulation of the press with WH Press Secretary Gibbs "

" Like I said, Republicans make me laugh when they suddenly discover press manipulation tactics at the White House.

Does the name Jeff Gannon strike a familiar note?

Want me to remind you who he was and who uncovered what he was?

Ruff Limblog wrote on Jul 2, 2009 4:50 PM:

" No, freeport56- Helen Thomas did not post to the NVR... I think it was the local Republican 'outrage-of-the-day' team hoping to find something with traction.

Of course, you've been ever-so-concerned that nobody mistreats Republican governor Mark 'Sparking' Sanford.

IOKIYAR, right?

steph wrote on Jul 2, 2009 5:17 PM:

" No, Ruff,
IOIRDIT.

(It's ok if Republicans did it, too.)

In fact, you should say nothing at all if a Repuplican did it, too. Democrats who behave as badly as Republicans are off-limits.

Right?

The thing is, we can rely on the media to jump all over a Republican indiscretion.

Governor Sanford should resign, by the way, if you want to know what I think, not for his affairs, but for his mishandling of official affairs. No pun intended.

But sometimes it takes a bit of grassroots effort to shine a light on Democrat misbehavior. That's what all the ruckus is, here. Plus, Obama was all about Change, and if this is Change, well, I don't know what to say. "

cab e-girl wrote on Jul 2, 2009 5:29 PM:

" Well now there's the problem. Someone has mistook we conservatives as Republicans. It's not the Republican rant, it's the Conservatives/Libertarians/Independents pointing out and watching big government grow and our rights and freedoms slipping away. The only group that refuses to acknowledge the current climate in DC is the Liberal Democrats. "

cab e-girl wrote on Jul 2, 2009 5:37 PM:

" BTW- As a conservative, I agree with Steph Sanford has to go. Getting your romantic trysts and affairs mixed up with your ability to serve as an elected official put's you in the "failure" category as far as I'm concerned. NEXT! "

russ wrote on Jul 2, 2009 6:53 PM:

" So the Obama just plants questions with reporters and then calls on them. I don't exactly remember the press fawning over Bush and throwing softballs.

When was it that Helen thomas became a joke? wasn't it during the Reagan administration? "

russ wrote on Jul 2, 2009 7:05 PM:

" FIGHT GOVERNMENT CONTROL over health care.

So 47 million additional people will get health care according to Obama. From whom? Hospitals are full, doctors are overbooked, nurses are overworked.

Doctors will be paid less, worked harder, and told what to do by government bureaucrats.

Health care will be rationed to older Americans on Medicare to try to balance the budget. Say goodbye to Mom. "

PlasticPinkFlamingo wrote on Jul 2, 2009 9:13 PM:

" Corruption is corruption no matter what your political persuasion is. Sanford is not thinking very rationally and should resign.

Another politician that needs to resign soon is Roland Burris. My deep cover source in Chicago tells me there should be information released soon that will cause that little bit of Democrat corruption to blow up again. However, there are also those trying to cover it up to prevent its release. It's politics vs. the law again.

Barney Frank remains the biggest corrupt politician in office after causing our country to lose trillions of dollars and millions of jobs, covering it up with bluster and fog. It is his picture you see when you look up "Second Democrat Depression" (right there next to Obama's). "
