Calistoga police identified a Napa man Tuesday suspected of killing a Calistoga man on Monday.
Police identified Rudolfo Uribe, 26, as the man they believe shot 26-year-old Luis Octavio Carrillo near the Napa County Fairgrounds early Monday. Police have a warrant for Uribe’s arrest and are asking the public for help in locating him.
Police describe Uribe as Hispanic, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and roughly 135 pounds, with a tattoo of his first name “Rudolfo” on his right arm and “Mercedes” on his left arm.
Mills did not indicate why police believe Uribe is a suspect, though witnessed reportedly saw a man running through an apartment complex near the scene of the incident shortly after Carrillo was shot.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Calistoga police at 942-2810. The Napa County Major Crimes Task Force is aiding the investigation.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of North Oak Street in Calistoga just after 1:30 a.m. Monday to the report of shots fired.
When police arrived, they found Carrillo wounded and lying in the street, according to Calistoga Police Chief Jonathan Mills. Later, Carrillo was pronounced dead at the scene, where officers also found broken glass they believe is from an automobile. Mills said police think a small, blue compact vehicle was involved in the incident.
The last murder in Calistoga happened in 1987 when an elderly man killed his terminally ill wife.
