Jesse West was visiting a small high school in downtown Los Angeles recently when Trinity Prep athletic director Bob Greene called him.

Napa Legion 14’s roll

Despite having only three losses on the season and having a 13-game win streak snapped, the Napa Legion 14’s still had to pull out a win on Sunday to win the regular season CVAL baseball title. With the CVAL title came the top seed in the Northern California playoffs.

Mike Copithorne (middle) of Napa’s Off the Hook Fly Fishing Travel outfitter landed this rare permit. Fishing reporter Bill Ryan estimated it to be about 20 pounds, and said dedicated anglers have fished a whole lifetime without catching one.
