Calistoga police identified a Napa man Tuesday suspected of killing a Calistoga man on Monday.

Police identified Rudolfo Uribe, 26, of Napa as the man they believe shot 26-year-old Luis Octavio Carrillo near the Napa County Fairgrounds early Monday. Police have a warrant for Uribe’s arrest and are asking the public for help in locating him.
Police describe Uribe as Hispanic, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and roughly 135 pounds, with a tattoo of his first name “Rudolfo” on his right arm and “Mercedes” on his left arm.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Calistoga police at 942-2810. The Napa County Major Crimes Task Force is aiding the investigation.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of North Oak Street in Calistoga just after 1:30 a.m. Monday to the report of shots fired.

When police arrived, they found Carrillo wounded and lying in the street, according to Calistoga Police Chief Jonathan Mills. Carrillo was later pronounced dead at the scene, where officers also found broken glass they believe is from an automobile. Mills said police think a small, blue compact vehicle was involved in the incident.
The last murder in Calistoga happened in 1987 when an elderly man killed his terminally ill wife.

" So Carrillo was the victim of a hit and run with a car AND he was shot? "

" While this happens and across across the entire spectrum of social classes here in the States e.g. police officers, mayors, lawyers and even priests and educators, there seems to be a special oblivion and even encouragement with this vindictive stance in some subcultures i.e. 'If I can't have you then no one can' It's also part of something much larger and more systemic i.e. a film solid sense of identity and an ability to think critically as well as a general emotional maturity & common sense which I understand is not so common in 2009 forward. I suspect that this fellow will have long fled ( evil always does ) across the Southern border and maybe that is it's own best reward this banishment thing as anyone in Calistoga from this day forward will surely recognize him in a heart beat. If Mexico will extradite such people at all now I highly suspect that a $10,000 reward will locate this bird real quickly. Still a world of wanted children would make a world of difference would it not? "

" Amazed-He's talkng about 'machismo'. As long as you 'looked cool', threw up some handsigns, trotted around in a badass stance, etc..until you ran off like you stole nickel candy from the drugstore...No critical or analytical thinking or how the results of your actions can adversley impact your life. Countless cultures around the globe have remained entrenched into a primitive way of thinking thereby relegating themselves to a permanent sub-culture while many or most other global cultures evolve-most, not all. That's IF this explanation even applies. Just transposing Ephemerol's words from what I can decipher. "

" cultures around the world? wow. someone is either seriously undereducated or needs to learn the definition of culture. "

Shaun M. wrote on Jul 1, 2009 4:11 PM:

" Mr_Napa-Your attempt at intellect or perhaps humor is leaving everyone with abated breath. Culture, based on my 7th grade Social Studies class is a general term encompassing the summation of learned experiences. It's an accumulation of usual socially transmitted behavior. Humans and animals. Some cultures evolve. Some perish. Some are permanently stunted and are left behind. Like those who use the term 'undereducated'-it's poor english. Poorly educated or insufficiently educated is more to the point. My interpretation of Ephemerol's point is then expounded by the variance and values of different culture-and their social mores. And he speaks to a larger problem-and curtailing it begins at home. Cheers! "

" Thanks, Shaun M. To me, guys with machismo don't need to carry a gun, but maybe that's just me ...

If thugs are a culture or sub-culture, can we spay and neuter them so they don't reproduce? "

vocal-de-local wrote on Jul 1, 2009 11:57 PM:

" Let's not deny the existence of cultures or subcultures which negatively impact us.

Just take a look at the Aztec culture. Some part of that culture were colorful and full of life. Other parts were deadly, like the human sacrifice part of it. Let's quit behaving as though everything "culture" is good. I like "fiesta" and even "siesta" but I don't like "machismo" or "gangsta-ismo". The Aztec human sacrifice culture had its day. Machismo and gangsta-ismo have had theirs. It's time for us to "recognize" it for what it really is; a subculture which negatively affects society. "

" Thus my idea, vocal-de-local -- a spay and neuter clinic. "

For 'most' of you who have commented, this isn't a battle over who can come up with the most intellectual comment or a grammar contest. A man lost his life. Have some compassion! "
