Solano CC sets football camps

The Solano Community College football program, led by head coach Floyd Burnsed, will host a series of two-day youth football clinics in early July.
Here’s a look at the camp offerings and schedules:

• Burnsed, who has coached for over 30 years and specialized in quarterbacking, will conduct a quarterback-receiver-running back clinic July 6-7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each day.
Each youngster will receiver a manual with techniques, rules and drills, as well as a camp T-shirt. Cost is $60 before July 2 and $75 after.

• There will be a linebacker and defensive back camp on July 8-9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each day. The Solano staff and players will address the fundamentals of those positions. Cost is $30 before July 2 and $40 after.
• There will be a lineman camp July 10 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Cost is $20 in advance and $30 after that date.

Babe Ruth fall baseball sign-ups continue

Napa Babe Ruth 13-15 age division will be conducting a 2009 fall baseball program. Teams will be assembled starting in early August and will start practicing on Aug. 15.

  Sign-ups will be conducted at Kennedy Park on Monday, June 29, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, June 30, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, July 1, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The cost is $145.

Pyramid Basketball Camp at Napa Christian

The Pyramid Basketball Camp will be held at Napa Christian from today to July 3. The day camp goes Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 18 (grades 5-12).

The cost is $175.

Robert Castillo of Pacific Union College, Jason Eyer and Scott Blunt are putting on the camp.

Storm Baseball Academy begins July 6

The Napa Valley College Storm Baseball Academy will be held for players 7 to 12 years of age. There will two sessions, July 6-9 and July 20-23.

Tee Off Fore Kids Golf Invitational July 10

The Active 20-30 Club of Napa will host the inaugural Tee Off Fore Kids Golf Invitational on Friday, July 10, at Eagle Vines Vineyards and Golf Club.

Check-in will be 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch at noon. There will be a shotgun start and scramble format play beginning at 1:30 p.m.

There will be a dinner and reception at 6 p.m.

The cost for golf is $155, and for dinner only is $45. To register or for more information, visit www.napaactive2030.org/events.html or call 253-2030.

All proceeds benefit Napa County Children’s Charities.

The Active 20-30 Club of Napa is a service club dedicated to serving the special needs of children in the community since 1930. The club’s annual events include the George Carl Kids Fishing Derby, Easter Egg Hunt, Fun Fest, Napa Town & Country Fair Parade and Project Santa.
