Pre-sale for Mont La Salle Cabernet begins

Pre-sale of the third vintage of the Brother Timothy Mont La Salle Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, crafted by the Hess Collection Winery began Thursday. For the first time, this wine was made from a small, single vineyard — entirely from Mont La Salle Vineyard estate grapes grown at the site of the original Christian Brothers winery where Brother Timothy worked as cellar master for more than 50 years.

The 2006 Brother Timothy Mont La Salle Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 90 percent cabernet sauvignon, 5 percent malbec and 5 percent petit verdot, was crafted by Dave Guffy, winemaker for the Hess Collection Winery. It retails for $75 per 750-mL ($150 per 1.5 liter).

More than 270 cases were made, including many large-format bottles. Orders will be accepted until the wine is sold out and will be shipped upon receipt of order. All proceeds benefit the Lasallian Education Fund,  which serves low-income families who do not have access to a quality education.

To be placed on the waiting list for the highly collectible 2006 Brother Timothy Mont La Salle Vineyard Cabernet, call (415) 332-3471.
