The Napa Valley Vintners, having raised          $5.7 million at Auction Napa Valley, are off to Vin Expo in Bordeaux where they’ll be hosting a “Best of the Wild West” barbecue. Twenty-four Napa Valley wineries, including Bennett Lane, Cain, Cakebread, Chapellet, Cuvaison, Hendry, Duckhorn, Emblem, Joseph Phelps, Merryvale, Napa Cellars, Pejul, Rocca, Rubicon, Mondavi, Viader, Freemark Abbey, Heitz, Newton, St. Supery, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Waterstone and Schramsberg, will be pouring their wines “until the cows come home.”

Guests at the grand French event are advised to “grab your Stetson, bring your appetite, and prepare to dance the two-step … and prizes will be given for “the biggest belt buckle and the best cowboy dudes.”
Despite the uncertain economy, the Vintners had pledged to give at minimum of $5 million back to the community this year, and they exceeded their mark with the money raised at the live, barrel and e-auctions at the annual event, chaired this year by the Trefethen family.

But getting the French to dance the two-step in their Stetsons might be an even bigger feat.

" Where is the 5 million going? Repairing the roads in Napa? Cleaning the side walks, hwy medians, and store fronts of 3 ft weeds? Give some accountability for how this money is spent. This town is disintegrating and everything is in need of repair. Signed concerned "

" Piquemyinterest, funds raised by the Napa Valley Vintner's annual Auction Napa Valley are given to non-profit organization throughout Napa County. ANV funds support high priority social services such as healthcare for the under-/uninsured, at-risk youth services, and low-income housing. They do not go toward road repairs which I believe receive funding from state, county, and/or city sources. A detailed listing of ANV beneficiaries is available at: http://www.napavintners.com/anv/anv_4_giving.aspx

In addition to the Auction Napa Valley fundraiser, the NVV conducts numerous trade missions throughout the year to help our members market their businesses as well as the Napa Valley appellation. These outreach efforts are important to the financial success of our members, and their survival directly links back to the vitality our local economy - where the Napa Valley wine industry contributes more than 8,000 local jobs, directly, and 40,000 local jobs via hospitality and other services allied with wine tourism.

I hope this information is helpful.

Sincerely,
Joel Coleman-Nakai, Communications Manager,
Napa Valley Vintners "
