Monez clarifies volunteer record

Dear editor, I appreciated Jillian Jones’ thorough and well-balanced June 17 article on the potential 2010 Board of Supervisors race.  There was one sentence, however, that might lead readers to a misconception.

Demonstrators infringe on other’s rights

Dear editor, the recent chilling account of a physician’s slaying at his church was a stark reminder of the lengths a fanatical fringe of anti-abortionists will go to prevent women from receiving a medical procedure with which they disagree. The irony, of course, is that often these fanatics claim their actions are religiously sanctioned.

Preserving agriculture in Napa County

Dear editor, we want to express our deepest appreciation to Diane Dillon, Keith Caldwell and Brad Wagenknecht for their vote against the Lake Luciana project in Pope Valley. They upheld the decision that the county planners had made earlier this spring. And essentially this was a vote to follow what had been laid out in the General Plan. If this project passed, there would have been enormous pressure on the rest of agricultural-zoned areas in our county. Our agricultural-based economy would have been in jeopardy, and so would our precious open space.
