War of words

I'm here to school you on education
Last March the Register held a contest to “Win Your Own Blog.” Of course I entered, I’m opinionated, well informed on some topics, a good bluffer on others. I like the give and take of the online and I am passionate about my beliefs, particularly when it comes to education. I thought that would make a good blog topic. Well, the very capable Ms. Phoebe Harper won. However, Dan Ross e-mailed me a few days later and said he could be persuaded to have a blog about education.
Make California work for working people, too
Last month I tried to encourage you to vote against all but one of the ballot measures. My wish came true and they were defeated. I believe it was a wise choice. The special election sent a clear message from voters to the governor and the Legislature. Cuts aren’t the answer to our state’s budget mess — and voters are tired of the political gimmicks and temporary fixes that the ballot measures proposed. Californians want legislators to do their job and come up with real fixes.
The scams keep coming
Not an hour goes by without a resident of Napa County getting a letter, e-mail or phone call offering an incredible financial windfall.
The consequences of drinking and driving
Dear editor,
Mr. C’s
swan song
Dear editor,
Grad robes are
moving on, too
Dear editor,Thank you to the seniors who have already donated their beautiful graduation robes to be sent to Cameroon, Africa, where they will be used to outfit youth choirs. Without your robes, they have nothing! There is still lots of time to send your robe where it will be used over and over again. Your robes will join hundreds of Napa Valley’s high school graduation robes that have already been sent. You can take your robes to Abbey Carpets on Jordan Lane, which is behind Wal-Mart. Thank you for taking time to do this. Don’t just let your robe hang in the closet for the next 10 years until your mom finally gets rid of it. Donate it now so it can be used.
Lake Luciana vote was a mistake
The vote against the Lake Luciana project today flies in the face of County rules for acceptable uses in the open space area of the agricultural watershed, and was a mistake.
Welcome to America - now speak whatever you want
English is the hardest language to learn. It's a tacitly accepted fact that English, with all its rules (and millions of exceptions) is a very difficult language, sometimes to a point where even native English-speakers have considerable trouble.
