Building a birdhouse: The basics

Tips for building a birdhouse:

For the birds

For these tenants, a wood shack is as good as a palace.

For the roses

John’s Rose Garden is open Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for its annual public day. The garden located at 1040 Mt. George Ave., contains thousands of roses in bloom. Visitors may tour it free of charge, but donations go to the Napa Valley College scholarships established in memory of John Dallas, who planted the roses.

Rummage extravaganza

The annual “It’s Not Your Mother’s Rummage Sale” put on by the Russia Ministry of Grace Episcopal Church in St. Helena takes place May 16-17.
