Marijuana bust

Police said they arrested Erik Ruben Ayala, 19, of Napa following a vehicle stop on Soscol Avenue at 11 p.m. Wednesday. After smelling marijuana fumes, police said they got permission to search the vehicle. They reported finding marijuana packaged for sale.

SUV Flips on Tubbs Lane

A Dodge Durango ran off Tubbs Lane in Calistoga near midnight Wednesday, overturning in a culvert, the CHP said.

Driver slams into tree

A car driven by an 18-year-old St. Helena resident ran off Chiles-Pope Valley Road shortly after midnight Thursday, striking a tree, the CHP said.

Recycling awards

The city of Napa handed out $8,500 in cash awards Thursday to 13 local businesses, six schools and two apartment complexes for their outstanding recycling and waste reduction practices.
