Varsity Boys Track & Field: Vacaville 101, Napa 35
The Indians, hosting their first MEL meet on their new all-weather track Wednesday, absorbed their first league loss. Finishing first for Napa were David Smith in the shot put (49 feet, 10 inches), Mario Giovanonni in the high jump (6-2) and triple jump (40-6), Aaron Riech in the pole vault (12-6) and Zach Scheinholz in the 100 (11.2 seconds). Giovanonni was second in the long jump (19-111⁄2 ) and Scheinholz was second in the 200 (22.8).
JV Softball: Napa 10, Fairfield 0
Jenn Shubin pitched her fifth no-hitter of the season. Mackenzie Morrison hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs. Shubin struck out 12 and didn't walk a batter. The only Falcon to reach base did so on an error. Shubin went 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Kaitlyn Lewis also had three hits. Shelby Higginbotham had two hits and an RBI. Casey Van Camp had a triple and an RBI.
Express finishes second
The Express 14-and-under softball Black Team finished second in a Sacramento tournament lastweekend.
Men's College Golf: Napa Valley seventh in tourney
Napa Valley College shot a 405 and finished seventh in the Big 8 tournament at Catta Verdera in Lincoln.
JV Boys Track & Field: Napa 901⁄2, Vacaville 401⁄2
The Indians improved to 4-0 in the MEL. Winning were the 4x100 relay team of Dan Kelham, Tyler Brown, Abe Alba and Juan Martinez in 51.11; Colin Powers in the 300 hurdles (43.7), long jump (18-33⁄4) and triple jump (38-5 1⁄4 ); Scott Ingram in the 1,600 (4:59) and 400 (55.87); Dillon Emge in the 200 (24.3); Jason Priestley in the shot put (45-101⁄2 ); and Cody Gochenour in the discus (118-1).
Varsity Girls Track & Field: Vacaville 100, Napa 37
The Indians (3-1 MEL) were handed their first league loss despite wins in the 400 relay, where Megan Kostecka, Christina Fonville, Gloria Reichers and Rylee McGill finished in 51.31, and the 4x400 relay, where Kostecka, McGill, Allison Richmond and Mariana Zavala clocked a 4:18.
Varsity Girls Soccer: Justin-Siena 1, San Rafael 1
Emma Forsythe scored late in the first half from the midfield. San Rafael tied it on a penalty kick late in the second half.
Varsity Badminton: Vintage 8, Vacaville 7
The Crushers' team of Alshlynn Cardona and Dorothy Huynh won the key doubles match. Vintage singles winners were Shanice Watts, Jonna-Rose Palma, Theona Gascon, Queen Pabellan and Cardona. Doubles winners were Pabellan and Angeline Khoo, and Angelica Crabtree and Watts.
JV Girls Track & Field: Vacaville 57, Napa 55
The Indians lost when they couldn't field a 4x400 relay team in the meet's last event. But they got four victories from Nicole Guffy in the 100 hurdles (personal record 18.39), the high jump (4-0), the long jump (13-33⁄4 ) and the triple jump (29-8).
