Napa's Tea Party

No wonder liberals hold so many protests... They are FUN!!!

Workforce housing plan is misguided, intrusive

A housing ordinance proposed to insure workforce housing by Napa County Supervisor Mark Luce is certainly an eye-catching and wondrous thing. It is especially admirable when those who (one would think) embrace an economic and political philosophy that esteems the market place as deus ex machina. The free market after all is the state religion and its dogma resolves all problems, at least over time, as we are sermonized. But then over time we are all dead, to borrow from a dead economist.

A sad commentary on blogging life

Once again there is a large rise in what I find to be very disappointing comments being submitted to a number of NapaValleyRegister.com articles.

Red-light cameras go into operation on Wednesday

As of this week, running a red light in Napa will be a worse idea than ever before.

Politics, personal agendas may have marred law enforcement effort.

The recent allegations against Rep. Jane Harman, D-Los Angeles, are tangled and murky and, for the moment at least, raise more questions than they answer — but they’re also troubling. If everything that’s alleged turns out to be true, it’s not a nice story.

Dear editor,

Greed Watch

One of my contentions about the cause of the recession has been that it has been brought about out of greed, the other issue being a lack of direction which leads to more greed.

This week's Food Section main article features how to build healthy meals for a family while keeping that meal within a family's budget.

Rant for April 27

Left v. right, liberal v. conservative in a type-until-your fingers bleed death match.

Prop 1A, pro and con debate

Proposition 1A on the May 19 ballot proposes, among other things, extending the state’s sales tax increase for an additional year to help towards solving the state’s massive budget crisis.

Prop 1B, debate the issue here

Proposition 1B, the Education funding payment plan on the May 19 ballot, amends the state Constitution in regards to previously-passed Proposition 98 by requiring $9.3 billion in supplemental payments into the state’s k-12 education system ... among the issues Prop 1B covers.

Prop 1C, weigh in on the topic

Proposition 1C on the May 19 ballot, the Lottery Modernization Act, would allow the state to borrow money from state lottery profits to help with the massive state budget deficit.

Prop 1D's online debate and poll

Proposition 1D, the long-titled Protects Children’s Services Funding. Helps Balance State Budget act, would shift some $1.7 billion in the next five years from the previously-passed Children and Families First Act (a 50-cent tax on a pack of cigarettes with money going to early childhood development programs) to help balance California's general fund.

Should Prop 1F pass or fail?

Yet another massively long title, Proposition 1F is known as the Elected Officials’ Salaries. Prevents Pay Increases During Budget Deficit Years Act.

Prop 1E, the online debate

Another long ballot title, Proposition 1E in the May 19 election, is the Mental Health Services Funding. Temporary Reallocation. Helps Balance State Budget Act.
