Diskin’s gem propels Napa to victory

Trevor Diskin was ready to go Wednesday when the Napa High School baseball team arrived after a 21⁄2 -hour ride to Castroville for its 10 a.m. opener at the Monterey Peninsula Easter Classic.

Youth Basketball: Optimist Youth playoffs

In the final elimination games of the 9th/10th grade boys Optimist Youth Basketball 2009 season, Long Electric held off Mark Coleman Insurance, 42-40, and will move on to the semifinal round. Leading Long Electric was Alex Holman with 15 points and eight rebounds, Brian Barincoat with eight points, and Ian Burgison and Faris Shweiky, each with six points.

JV Baseball: San Marin 8, Justin-Siena 7

Will French pitched very well in relief for Justin-Siena (6-8 overall, 5-5 Marin County Athletic League) in Wednesday’s 10-inning game in Novato. French, a right-hander, allowed two runs (both unearned) on two hits, walked one and struck out three in 71⁄3 innings.
