The Napa County Planning Commission voted on Wednesday to reschedule the second meeting in a series of public workshops on the Napa Pipe development proposal.

Originally planned for April 8, the special Planning Commission meeting will now take place on April 22 at 6 p.m. at the Napa County Office of Education, 2121 Imola Ave., Napa.
The workshop’s theme is “neighborhood character and design.” Additional workshops will focus on technical issues such as water and traffic.

According to Napa County Planning Director Hillary Gitelman, the scheduling change was made to accommodate the new public relations firm hired by the county to conduct the Napa Pipe workshops.
Tiffany van Gorder, general manager of Balzac Communications & Marketing, who will organize the meetings, said the change will give her firm more time to meet with key groups in advance of the meeting and to report on the project’s timeline. Van Gorder said pushing back the meeting will also encourage greater attendance. /Register

" So the taxpayers have to foot the bill for a public relation firm for the County.

And this public relations firm coincidently has a general manager with the same last name as the City Councilman who just caused a bunch of tourists to decide not to came to the Napa Valley.

Can't say I like that. I probably wouldn't like it even if it wasn't Napa Pipe. "

" wow. I wonder if in the next few months the County will "all of a sudden" have a change of heart in negotiating land uses wiht the City!. It sure doesn't hurt to have the manager of the PR firm also have a husband on the City Council. I wonder if this contract was put out to bid, since it is using public money!.

If Tiffany is Mark van Gorder's wife then Mark will have to recuse himself from voting on this.

If I know Mark he will do so. "

" Slick Move ?

It has come to be expected.

I would not be NEARLY as apprehensive about the mess we're going to get if I felt that Napa Pipe weren't being deceptive or manipulative at every opportunity.

All to keep us from realizing that, as an area in desperate need of local light industry, we're going to plow over our best, and probably last, industrial area to put in toxic homes.

It would be one of the STUPIDEST thing we could do. At many different levels.

And it's being thrust upon un by very good and clever salespeople. And we seem to be buying it.

Amazing. "
