Starting pitcher Ryon Dudley notched his fourth win Tuesday as Napa Valley College scored seven runs in the first inning and cruised to a 13-5 victory over Los Medanos in Bay Valley Conference baseball play in Pittsburg.

Sixth-man Kevin Haugen led Justin-Siena with an 83, but Marin Catholic had four scores better than that in the three-team MCAL match at Meadow Club. Also for the Braves (3-2 overall, 2-2 MCAL), Tristan Morris and Nikko Steen had 87s, Ryan Carson and Thomas McClendon 88s, and Jack Wilson a thrown-out 91.

In a nine-hole Marin County Athletic League dual match last week at Silverado Resort, the Braves were led by Elliott Stratton (46), Clark Carston (50), Eric Locken (50), Dwight Boyko (56), Doug Carey (56), and John Somers (62).
JV Girls Soccer: Napa 3, Vacaville 0
Becca Steen scored on a Gianna Carducci assist in the 25th minute to put the Indians (7-0-2 overall, 2-0-1 MEL) on the board at home on Tuesday.
JV Softball: Napa 24, Analy 0
The Indians improved to 8-1 with Tuesday’s mercy rule-shortened home victory, breaking it open with eight-run rallies in the second and third innings.
JV Softball: Vintage ninth in tourney
Vintage went 3-2 to place ninth of 32 teams in the Elk Grove Tournament this past weekend as Kirra DeGarmo went 5-for-5 against Laguna Creek-Elk Grove, including a triple and two doubles.
JV Baseball: Vacaville 9, Vintage 7
Alex Fernandez went 3-for-4 with an RBI, but the Crushers (1-1 MEL) still lost Tuesday. Fernandez had a pair of doubles. Josh Tremblay had two hits and three RBIs. Blake Zuniga, Austin Barlow and David Monk each had singles. Andre Graeda had a single and two RBIs.
Varsity Baseball: Fairfield 6, Napa 4
The Falcons out-hit the visiting Indians 9-8 and stranded eight Napa baserunners on Tuesday, including three in the first inning and one at second base in the seventh.
Varsity Baseball: Winters 9, St. Helena 2
Colton Dorman had two hits, but the Saints (1-5) fell on the road Tuesday. Eric Salinger had a single and RBI for St. Helena. Matt Jimenez had a double. Ewen Hungerford had a single and scored a run. Cody Dorman singled.
Varsity Softball: Crushers 3-2 in tourney
Vintage completed the Victory Preseason Tournament with a 3-2 record, finishing play Saturday with a 5-2 win over Ponderosa-Shingle Springs and a 7-3 loss to East Union-Manteca.

Sarah Halsey took the loss, giving up six runs and five hits, walking three and striking out one in one inning. Erin Halsey gave up five hits and two runs while striking out one in six innings.

The Indians extended their unbeaten streak to eight games and remained unscored upon in MEL play with Tuesday’s shutout at the Raiders field.

Napa’s Craig Kaemmer was the medalist, shooting 38 at Napa Valley Country Club. Tomo Yoshimatsu carded 40. Zack Risley and Tyler Beirle each shot 44. Zack Sims had a 45. Max Alvarez had a non-scoring 45 for Napa (3-0 MEL, 5-0 overall).

Justin-Siena scored in the first three minutes of last week’s Marin County Athletic League game, getting a goal from Caroline Zaia in a loss on the road.

In Tuesday’s nine-hole Monticello Empire League dual match at Paradise Valley in Fairfield, Vintage (2-3 overall, 1-2 MEL) was led by Brandon Duncan with a 4-over-par 40, Michael Butler’s 41, Alex Peterson’s 42, and Chris Ramos and Derek Antti, each with a 43.

Nate Silverman and his brother and were out at the Sea Ranch on a recent outing when he hooked this 68-inch sturgeon following a 30-minute battle. Its estimated weight was between 55 and 60 pounds. The trip was Silverman’s first time fishing for sturgeon.
