Local Report: Napa softball pitchers sparkle

After going 1-1 on the first day, the Napa High School softball team ended the Preseason Tournament in Sacramento going 1-2 while facing three very solid opponents and some excellent pitching. Napa was 2-3 in the tournament and is now 4-3 overall.

St. Dominic girls, St. Apollinaris boys capture Clark tourney crowns

St. Dominic beat St. John’s Lutheran 36-17 in the girls championship game Sunday of the 43rd annual Dan Clark Eighth Grade  Basketball Tournament, sponsored by the Justin-Siena High School Sports Boosters Club and the Pepsi Bottling Group.

Nate Silverman and his brother and were out at the Sea Ranch on a recent outing when he hooked this 68-inch sturgeon following a 30-minute battle. Its estimated weight was between 55 and 60 pounds.  The trip was Silverman’s first time fishing for sturgeon.
