PUC Prep advances to section title tilt

Tyler Thesman had 29 points and 20 rebounds, leading the PUC Prep boys basketball team to a 58-57 win in overtime over Summerfield Waldorf-Santa Rosa in a CIF North Coast Section Division VI semifinal-round playoff game at Analy-Sebastopol Wednesday night.

Patriots earn top honors in Anaheim

The American Canyon Patriots sent 12 of their cheerleaders, the Midget and Pee Wee teams, to compete in the USA Junior Nationals cheerleading competition, held in Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim Feb. 28-March 1. This trip was the highlight in a very successful season for the Patriots, and marks their first cheer competition at a National level.  

It's Trombetta's time

Conor Trombetta put yet another scare into his nemesis, shook off the heartbreaking loss, and refocused on his goal of reaching the CIF State Wrestling Championships.

Varsity Boys Golf: Vintage 202, Sonoma Valley 215

Brandon Duncan led the Crushers (1-1), shooting a 1-over 37. Grant Wood, Alex Peterson and Michael Butler each had 41s. Drew Barlow had a 42 and Reed Huddleston a 44.

Varsity Boys Tennis: Napa 6, Vacaville 3

Singles winners for Napa (4-0 overall, 2-0 Monticello Empire League) Wednesday were Nathan Miller, 6-1, 6-0; Stuart Miller, 6-0, 6-0; Nick Mirda, 6-0, 6-7(3), 6-2; David Park, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1; and Kevin Kroyer, 6-1, 6-0. Sean Day lost in singles play, 6-3, 6-3.

Indians claim crowns

The Napa High School girls soccer team won the Cal Spring Classic Tournament, hosted by Pioneer-Woodland, last week.

Stone aces at Napa Valley

Napa County Superior Court Judge Rod Stone used a 4-rescue club to ace the par-3, 172-yard 15th hole at Napa Valley Country Club on Feb. 28.

The 43rd annual Dan Clark Eighth Grade Basketball Tournament, sponsored by the Justin-Siena High School Sports Boosters Club and the Pepsi Bottling Group, will be played March 11-15 at Justin-Siena.
