Napa Valley men, women open hoop homestand today

Napa Valley College’s basketball teams open a key two-game homestand tonight when College of Marin’s men and women come to town.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Justin-Siena 55, Novato 44

Janelle Travis had 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead Justin-Siena (11-4 overall, 4-0 Marin County Athletic League) to a win Tuesday night on the road.

Varsity Boys Basketball: Trinity Prep 52, Freedom Christian 37

Anthony Kersting had 13 points as the Crusaders won Monday’s road game, played at Sierra Christian in Rocklin. Sean Ryan added 11 points, Dan Cravalho had 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals, and Peter Kersting had eight points, five rebounds and five steals.

Nacho Franco already has a spot picked out for the perpetual trophy that comes with winning the King of the Valley Tournament.

Imhoff propels Napa's boys

Tyler Imhoff had 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter to help the Napa High boys basketball team pull away from host McClatchy-Sacramento for a 56-51 victory in its final nonleague game before the start of league play.

Freshman Girls Basketball: Justin-Siena 42, Novato 17

Justin-Siena (6-10 overall, 2-2 MCAL) was led by Ashley Ford with 13 points, nine rebounds and six steals. Bridget Flynn had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

Vintage crab, pasta feed Saturday

The Vintage High Athletic Boosters will hold their 31st annual crab and pasta feed Saturday starting at 6 p.m. at the Chardonnay Hall, Napa Expo.

Supervisors honor Justin-Siena football champs

JV Girls Basketball: Justin-Siena 59, Novato 18

The Braves led 35-12 midway through Tuesday’s MCAL contest and put it away with a 16-2 third quarter.

Varsity Wrestling: Vacaville 69, Vintage 6

Josh Ventura, a freshman, lost a 10-3 decision at 119 pounds in the Monticello Empire League-opening dual match last week to a very strong Vacaville team, which is state ranked. The match was held in Vintage’s new auxiliary gymnasium.
