I actually agree with you, I'd like a COSTCO in Napa too.
You cracked me up this time though...I pictured COSTCO selling electric cars that you can pick up and put them on your shopping cart :D "

NVC could strike a deal with one of the new hotels for group housing for the students.
There could also be a retail kitchen store on campus to provide necessary utensils for students and more funding for the program. "

Ooohh, how about a Fresh Choice? My dad and I used to go there sometimes when I was a kid, and I've always loved that. For a big buffet meal, it's fairly inexpensive. "

Or preferably an independent book store
A news stand that provides national and international papers and magazines. maybe combined with a bookstore.
make it contingent on any new coffee house or wine bar that might open.
Another bookstore. "

Gee, I don't think I even shopped in Napa this Christmas. Napa needs medium priced stores with a degree of quality. No more Wallmarts, Targets, or Longs! "

I still think we should sell Copia to the Indians for a casino. Gambling, big name entertainment and inexpensive food. It would play to the tourists , the locals , provide jobs and add a lot to the local economy. "

1st I would allow these businesses to own their own buildings so when they became sucessful they would not close because the rent became to high.
Now the businesses:
1) Electric Car Mfg Co.
2) A company that manufactures Stirling Energy Systems, Sun Catcher portable Solar power systems
3) Big Napa Toy Store
4) Indoor Roller Skate / Skate park
5) Indoor community pool with 1/2 of the time for open swim
6) A big shallow pond in a park for RC Boats (opps want that one to be free)
7) A Rail Road Commuter Train from Napa to Calistoga. (Like the Super Skunk Commuter)
8) An Entertainment Lounge in the old Levinsons Building (away from neighborhood) with a restaurant, and a dance floor (Each nite dedicated to a specific era of music, Thrusday= jazz nite, Fridays=1950's, Saturdays=1960's, Sunday 1920's-1930's) Mondays and Wensday=Classic and Foreign Films, and Tuesday=Comedy Club nite,
9) Turn Copia into A Food Network of the West Cable T.V. Studio featuring Napa, Sonoma, Marin Food Competitions, Documentarys Western Style gardening and also a Napa and North Bay Agricultural Documentary Museum.
Overall this is problably the best question the Register could have asked. Lots of good ideas here. Thats the hard part. Sometimes people with money can't produce the idea, so maybe the cash and the ideas could merge here.
But its only a wish. "

I would like Costco and Marshall's or TJ Maxx.
Kohl's will be great, as well.
I wish Joann Fabrics would come back.
I would love Fresh Choice, but the size of my wallet would decrease as the size of my rear increased, if Fresh Choice came to town....
Crate and Barrel!
Somewhere that sells pants for chicks with hips--now THAT would be nice.
I must say, though, we do have some pretty good shopping--much better than when I moved to town in 1993.
But the smart answer is Ruff's--we need more manufacturing, a more well-rounded production-oriented economy, and not one that is so heavily dependent upon service and consumption. "

A club where you can get a decent drink for less than 10 dollars, watch a good, loud, crazy band, dance a dance, meet a girl/guy, and basically live life.
Something fun to do with your family or friends other than bowl or see movies, like a roller skating rink/ice skating rink, batting cage, something that is physical and can get everyone involved.
I would also like to see more community organized events that don't have to do with getting loaded and eating overpriced food. Like an ultimate frisbee club, or a poetry/book reading club, or a weekly battle of the bands, or a weekly art exhibit, or a .
We wonder why our youth have nothing better to do than get high and start their own kind of fun. "
