Biggest Loser is over, are you ready to be Napa's version?

Cheryl Forberg, the nutritionist to NBC's hit show "Biggest Loser," writes a monthly column for the Register on eating right, offering ways to improve your overall health through better eating habits and providing great recipes.

Forberg, a Napa Valley resident, has been the inspiration for many people to take on the challenge of improving their health and their eating habits since her column started here early in 2008.

What we are thinking of is adding a few other people who would write healthy lifestyle-related columns that, when offered as additions on the weeks before and after Cheryl's columns, would make up an entire getting healthy and getting fit component for our readers.

Since most all of us come up with New Years resolutions each year, what better time to look at offering this than at the start of 2009 with Napa's Resolution to Lose Big.

The columns would run every Monday, offering tips on general fitness, health issues and more, all with a goal of helping you reach your goal of carrying less weight and being in better condition in '09 than you were in '08.

One of the contributors is Brian Curtis PT, owner of Curtis Physical Therapy, located within Exertec Health and Fitness Club in Napa. Brian is a state licensed Physical Therapist with more than 25 years of experience treating orthopedic-type injuries, including spine, shoulder, knee and ankle problems.

He is personally actively involved in exercise and is an avid cycling enthusiast. He also regularly works out with weights and general exercises to maintain health. This lifestyle of healthy awareness is incorporated into his profession as he tries to infuse his passion for exercise into the lifestyles of his patients.

If you are game for this, so are we. The columns each Monday can be that week's starting point to keep you motivated ... you can even sign up to be part of the online group with a Resolution to Lose Big ... and we will do this from January through May for everyone who is interested.
