The Napa Valley College volleyball team, which made it to the Northern California Community College Tournament, is well represented on the all-Bay Valley Conference team.

Varsity Boys Basketball: St. Helena 69, Calistoga 49

St. Helena (3-4 overall) won Thursday night’s nonleague game, as Cole Ballentine (17 points, five rebounds), John Gehrke (14 points) and Morgan Densberger (10 points, four steals) led the way for the visiting Saints.

Varsity Boys Basketball: Tomales 59, Trinity Prep 30

Dan Cravalho (10 points, four steals), Anthony Kersting (eight points), Sean Ryan (six points) and Kyle O’Brien (four rebounds) led visiting Trinity Prep (3-5) in Thursday night’s nonleague game.

JV Girls Basketball: Vintage 47, Rio Linda 18

Tied 5-5 early on, Vintage went on a 15-0 run to break the game open. Olivia Husted led the Vintage scoring with 16 points. She was followed by Megan Galles with eight and Barb Speth with seven.

Varsity Girls Basketball: Tomales 47, Trinity Prep 21

Marisa Streett scored 16 points Thursday night to lead visiting Trinity Prep (3-4 overall) in a nonleague game. Jessica Friedlander (nine rebounds, four steals) and Barbara Bakh (four steals, three rebounds) also contributed.

JV Girls Basketball: St. Helena 51, Calistoga 7

Shelby Zumwalt had 11 points and Gaby Rulon had 10 points to lead visiting St. Helena Thursday.

This week I had the opportunity to hunt geese on a Wilderness Unlimited property near Willows. Unfortunately, I chose a day in between weather fronts.  It was a clear and cold morning with not enough of a breeze to really move the birds off their normal feeding patterns.
